Probably the TPMS. We have had others here report similar..

Go back to Discount Tire. They installed a TPMS that is not going to play well with the JL. Have them install their "Model 3500" which other JL owner's here have reported to work fine with the JL.

They should not charge you. This is the result of their installing the wrong TPMS.

Picked up my JLUR last night, BFG AT 35's, new TPMS sensors from 4-Wheel parts. Took several full start/off cycles and about 15 miles to make the dash warning light go out. Got lucky it would appear

So I got a set of 5 new wheels with tires at Discount Tire. I had them install aftermarket sensors, which I’ve read here are the same as the JK ones (not confirmed, just someone saying “I heard...”). Regardless, the sensor type was in their computer, so that’s the one they installed.

They told me what I’ve read a ton of other places - just put them on and drive the car for 5-10 minutes above 15 mph and the car will find them and everything will just work.

Several trips of 30 minutes or more and they didn’t work.

TodayI took it back and they said something else that I read on a forum as well - if they don’t automatically work, they may have to be manually activated and synced to the car. They have a computer to do this, so the guy went around to each wheel... beep beep beep beep beep. Plugged it in to the JL, and the JL wouldn’t let him upload the sensor info for some reason.

They didn’t really know why it wasn’t taking the manual programming, but told me that all of them were “activated” and that the car should see them now. Two 30 minute trips later, and it still doesn’t see any of them.

So I’m wondering a few things...

#1 - Has anyone gone to Discount and gotten aftermarket units on their JL that work? If so, what model did you get (should be on the receipt).

#2 - Anyone have any idea why it wouldn’t let them manually sync like every other car? (The guy tried two computer units and neither would let him sync).

#3 - Would swapping my OEM sensors be guaranteed to work? I’d really rather not haul all 5 old wheels there and have them play the mount/dismount game 10 times if it doesn’t going to work in the end.

This is weird, and I’ve never had this issue with any other car. I wish Chrysler would do their TPMS like Mazda, which doesn’t put the stupid sensors in the wheels.

I wish I would have read this before I installed cheap ebay sensors. Discount tire could not get them to connect to the jeep. The could scan but not write them to the jeep. I have been driving for over a week and still no connection. Then I ask the jeep dealer to take a stab at it. They couldn't connect them either and charged me 1hr of labor! I have a tazer, so I can just turn them off. But will probably try to find some mopar ones and have them install on the next rotation.
