Towing vs winching - what transmission setting?

Can someone clarify what transmission setting a JL should be in when towing vs winching. AI is telling me to winch with the transfer case and selector in neutral but to tow with the transfer case in neutral and the selector in park

Are you talking about flat towing your JL? transfer case in Neutral, shifter in park.
