I am considering putting a towing hitch on my 2020 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon and was wondering where to connect the wiring for the lighting. Is there a place to plug in the wiring without cutting into the existing wiring?

How much weight, including trailer and contents did you plan on towing?

I agree that a 4 pin towing wire harness is more than adequate for most towing situations; I too use an aftermarket one

But if you're in need of brake controller type of wiring, I think you may need to go with the MOPAR cabling harness and installation which provides 4 and 7 pin connectors:

There is nothing special in regard to your 2020 JL in regard to adding a trailer hitch and associated wiring

Yes, you can buy a Mopar hitch and Mopar wiring....... or pay way way less for a quality aftermarket hitch for JL and aftermarket wiring for the JL.

Many here have installed CURT brand offerings.

Install of hitch and wiring is pretty easy for most guys and even for gals.. Wiring is prety much plug and play...

My Jeep is a 2020 not 2022, but that is why I posted this question as I do not plan to buy Mopar stuff. The next question is where is the plug to plug the wiring into? Also thanks for the links!

Plugs into jeep harness behind tailights

Buy the harness which plugs in and not the one you splice

Okay, thanks!
@ppjcs

Also.... when you buy a hitch, buy a drop hitch...

What, I learned after my first 20 years of towing is that it is a very wise move, early on, to invest in a decent Aluminum adjustable hitch .

Over the years, you will acquire and use, borrow and use, or whatever many different trailers.

Over the years,... you end up buying different rise/drop hitches... a 2", a 4", a 6", etc., and you end up with a pile of hitches and over the long haul spend a lot of $ on a scad of hitches.

Also... Depending on your trailer, the height of the trailer tongue can differ by inches depending on, if the trailer is loaded or empty, etc... or if you have passengers / equipment, etc. in the back of the tow vehicle... Today, you may need a 1 inch drop and tomorrow you may need a 2 or 4", 6', 8 or 10" drop.. or you may need a 2", 3", or whatever rise....

With that said.... I encourage you to buy a decent aluminum, adjustable hitch. Yes, a decent one will cost you $150+- but you will always have a proper hitch when you are dealing with whatever trailer you are dealing with. Think today, tomorrow and years to come and how your trailering needs will change.

Buy an adjustable hitch and that one time purchase will go through life with you so to speak.

If you carry a adjustable hitch with you, you will always be prepared for whatever trailer you back up to ..... regardless of your tow vehicl
e.

IMPORTANT: Whatever you buy, you need to assure it extends ..... out just past the Jeep's spare tire.

I don't know if the 2020 offered an LED lighting package, but if you have that you'll need to get a harness specifically for it which involves running a feed up to the 12 volt battery.

Also handy is an adjustable one like mine which has multiple balls already attached.
