I read a few threads on the MOPAR unit. It looks like you can get it to work with the proper cables. But you have to tear the dash apart and while not that big a deal I didnt want to loose my 12v or move it to another location.
So I ordered the Tow-Pro Elite controller directly from REDARC Part number EBRH-ACCV3-NA. They also have a TPH-017 you will need, You also need TEKONSHA 3073-P that I got from OReilly's. REDARC may have that too?? Getting these parts makes it plug and play.
The brains itself is small and hides in the dash. The actual instrument to adjust the brakes is a teeny thing and you either find a spot in the dash and drill or put it in the same spot as the OEM.
Ideally you should put it where you can see it and get to it easily but I didnt do that, at least not yet. I recall that with my last brake controller I hardly messed with it once adjusted. So I cut out a spot on the kick panel below the steering wheel all the way on the bottom. Not ideal but not bad either.
The controller itself was a head scratch-er. I ended up using heaving duty velcro along with premium tie wraps on the center of the bottom bar. Grabbing it by hand proved to me it was rock solid, YMMV. Having it there gave me easy access and all that was left was to connect the wiring and velcro up the extra cable.
Now a test run. Worked GREAT. I connected my trailer (book says you dont have to) and it works but the system needs to calibrated itself so for the first few miles it flashes blue and green. It's done when it stays blue. Blue=Proportional Read the directions on how to change to manual. Very easy to do.
The JL has excellent brakes, and it handled my approximately 1500lb trailer just fine. But with trailer brakes it was flat out amazing and I'm glad I got trailer brakes and this controller.
BTW another good reason to use the under the dash kicker is that if you screw up or just want to remove the controller it's not that hard to replace and cheap too.
