Hi all - looking for recommendations for hitch tray and storage. We have a trip to Maine from NYC coming up and need something that can ideally allow back door to open when not loaded ad also would like it to fold up when not in use. Thanks for the help!!

I doubt you'll find a hitch tray that can fold up with the spare tire on the back. Mine is a solid piece about 60x30" with a 3-4" tall rail going around the top of the tray, and I can't use it because the spare tire stops it about 2" from being fully inserted. I would recommend something with a really long 'stinger' or a flat tray, or relocate the spare and anything should work.
An aluminum tray would be much less cumbersome to install/remove by yourself but it's going to cost a bit more.

I just saw one the other day while browsing..
It folded up AND down to the ground to allow the tailgate to open.
If I find the link I will post it.
Also Kuat makes a hitch extender that swings out with the tailgate. A little pricey but functional.

1up makes some great products, I have had their bike rack for the last few years and haven’t had any issues with it. I’ve added their hitch extender to clear the rear tire as I had been driving an Explorer prior to the JL purchase.

Here is a link to their folding cargo carrier: https://www.1up-usa.com/product-category/cargo-carriers/

EDIT: Their swing arm looks to be on my radar now, it’ll make accessing the cargo area easier rather than tilting the bike rack or cargo tray away.
