Hey Everyone,

We have a 22 Sport S, 2 door with the 2.0. About 8 months ago we started getting a thumping noise that is coming from the rear. It sounds as if it is coming from the right rear wheel well. It is only noticeable from the inside. I does not do it all the time, but when it does it is at a coasting speed. Usually hear it when rolling in a parking lot. It's a consistent thumping when it does. Sounds as if somegthing is bouncing when going over small bumps. We did take it to the dealership and they said it was a known issue with the fuel tank pump and currently no fix for it. We haven't noticed any issues with it outside of it being pretty annoying. Anyone else having this issue or know of it and if there has been any know correction?

Thanks in advance.

Is the heater or A/C on when this happens?

It does it with the heater/AC on and off.

I'm often occupied, by many things, often at the same time
Do you have the upgraded stereo? Subwoofer thumping when you play 2 Live Crew?

I purchased a 2023 Wrangler Sport S 2 door a month ago and recently began hearing a noise in the rear like a rattle/thumping- I haven’t taken the time to see what it is but it is annoying. Update: I removed everything from my rear storage box, and made an inspection under the rear - the only thing I found that may be making the noise is a rubber tube that goes into the differential near the top. I only hear the noise when the Jeep is in D or R at idle (crawl) speed- it’s a constant light thumping- I’ll need to do more investigating to figure it out.

I don't know if the 2 door is the same but the 4 door JL has the evap canister inside of the passenger rear wheel well. Mine came loose and was rattling.

Mine has some bump/knock/thud sound. I thought it was the stuff I had in the storage bin at one point but it wasnt. Its random when it happens and I cannot make it happen on demand no matter the bump i go over. Never have figured it out either. Mine sounds like its more from the driver's side but cant be 100%

I’m glad I’m not the only one with the mysterious thump.

I’ll have to take a look. It has the sound of a flat tire.

Did you ever find out the cause of the noise? I'm hearing the same thing

Inspect the E brake in the rear. Might be hanging up.

Will do. Could you point me to a guide on how it "should" look?
To be honest, I haven't had to disassemble my rear brakes yet. I have seen this symptom on other rear axles with similar E brake set ups. I'll try to get you some good info.
