Could someone please 'splain to me what a tire carrier option for the steel rear bumper is? Sadly, I don't know what you're talking about.

(I also don't know what D1 status is.)
Its typically a swing away carrier that mounts on the rear bumper and supports the oversized tire..thereby taking the stress off the tailgate hinges..

D1 status is one of the factory designation codes (and there are many) given when you order a vehicle. I believe D1 is when you get a Vin assigned and firm schedule of it being built.

Here are the important early codes after order has been placed in the system (these are from JK production, but should be the same);

Scheduled
C - tentative schedule
D - firm schedule: serial number is assigned. VIN assigned.
D1 - gateline: plant has sequenced the unit for production, estimated ship date assigned
D2 - gateline: framing and build imminent, usually within 3-6 days
Note: Once a vehicle reaches scheduled (C or D) status, it cannot be cancelled by the dealer. Orders can sit in D-status for up to 60 days.

Build
E - framing
F - paint
G - trim

Built
I - unit is pending final inspection

* How the 2dr back seat folds down - Folds as a JK 2dr, or as a JK unlimited with a flat floor all the way from the tailgate to the front seats?

We already know that.
It’s in the User Guide and Owner’s Manual, they are fold and tumble like the JK.

The current 2017 JK has an option for a reinforced tire mount, but I haven't seen this option on the 2018 JL order forms. Does this mean it comes standard, or not an option at all?

If it comes standard why did there appear to be a MOPAR tire mount on the wall of parts at the SEMA show?
My theory on this is the Rubicon will have the swing gate reinforcement as standard since the vehicle comes with 33’s out the gate.

I think it’ll be able to carry the slight added weight of 35’s without a problem since It won’t need a lift to accomdate 35’s (I know not related) but that’s what makes me think they’ve built that idea in to their swing gate capacity on the Rubicon.

Not a chance. Especially in an area where FCA can make more money with an upcharge on an added accessory. Plus we have seen many mules running 33s with nothing that appears to be a reinforced swing gate (different than other mules not on 33s). If anything they reengineered the hinges to withstand the larger tires.[/QUOTE]

I was mistaken that it was an option. The Mopar display was indeed where I saw it. Thanks for the correction.

Precisely, this still emphasis the main point that we don’t need the swing gate (or engineered hinges) as the hinges that come with the car will accommodate the heavier tire load. That’s probably why we don’t see the swing gate as an option!

Gotcha. Thought you meant the optional one now for the JK would be standard.

Does steel rear bumper have a tire carrier option.
I’m sure there’s more I’m forgetting

With the exception of this picture where the lead Jeep looks like it has the upgraded Mopar swing gate reinforcement, it doesn't appear that there is a cut out for a AEV type tire carrier in the rear bumpers of any of the Wranglers we have seen that have at least the front steel bumper. But, in some of the pics, it looks like the rear bumper is unknown. I can't 100% say its steel.
