I will not be participating in this forum as of 8/31/2018. It's been a fun ride, but it's time to move on. Take care. - Dustin

My income puts me in "buy two rubicons right now" territory these days, but there's other things I wanna spend my money on, too. The entire JL line is overpriced in my opinion, and I think the market is going to showcase that once it's a couple years old, but models like the lower 2 doors and the base 4 door are nearly acceptably priced.

The top number you can sticker a JLUR to is hilarious to me. Luxury car money.

I traded in a 60k BMW for a Sport S. When you get older, you realize that you don't want your retirement be sitting in your garage :). I mod as I go, and I tell you I couldn't be happier. I love finding little things to do to it. In fact, this thread should be one of the more exciting ones on here becuase we have blank canvas essentially.

It's unbelievable how much competition there are with rubicon owners compared to everyone else. If you notice the "what should I buy" threads, the rubicon owners will always tell you to buy a rubicon, lol. (perhaps so you can be cool like them). The Sahara/Sport/SportS owners are reasonable on their reasons and for the most part, genuinely a happier post it seems.

I am sure that instead "lets compare our rubicons" vs. "let's compare our paychecks or savings", I am quite sure this forum would be flipped upside down, lol.

Yep, I got what was reasonably affordable for me, and the Rubicon just barely sat above that line. I supposed I could have gotten one, but then I would have started to cut back on other things in my budget so that wouldn't have been very fun for me. I like my Sahara, and I'm not snobbish over it. lol.

I haven't done much off road yet, but I have no complaints about how it has done in the little bit I was able to sneak in.

This is also for reference for those looking at aftermarket wheels and can't find the offset for the Sahara standard wheel. I couldn't find it anywhere on the forum, another member PMed it to me
18x7.5 with +44 offset on a 255/70/18
I don't think you want a +44 on a sport. I've heard of +12 and I'm running +1 on my sport.

Hey Dewey...I was posting that as a reference on what the stock Sport wheels are in case someone wants to plug in comparison numbers on a tire size calculator.

What are you guys paying for those who have had takeoff rubi springs/shocks installed or a spacer lift kit? I have a JLUS and wan't to see if picking up cheap rubi takeoff suspension is worth it if it'll be 1k to install.

Wow, that os awesome. So says the OP
I did it on my Sahara and felt it was worth it (got about 0.75" to 1" of lift total), it is very easy to install on the JL
I just purchased the RC 2.5 spacer lift. Haven’t installed it yet on my sport. I’m curious to see what everyone thinks about putting a takeoff rubicon suspension on first AND then installing the spacer lift for even more added height/lift.

Any suggestion or comments on this?

Also here’s some pics of my JLU Sport S
Raleigh NC here

I’m actually putting 35 KO2s on with black American outlaw wheels and the RC 2.5 spacer lift at the end of the month.

Swapped out the stock for the Sahara bumper
Black grill inserts
AVS textures hood protector
Wrangler Decals & Flag decals on the cowl
Red Leather Katzkin interior
(Still hoping to get the red dash panels to match)

Just bought my new JLU sport S last week love it already. Tint this weekend, lift is already here RC 2.5 suspension lift with coils and shocks. Want to do the double standard Methods and 35” BFG mud terrain or Cooper Discoverer STT. Also have coming the RC tire relocator and RC black series cube lights for the cowl and RC dual steering stabilizer kit

Bought the wife the same sport S but I’m wife she got the RC 2.5 spacer lift and she wants the method standards and a 50” light bar.

So got my chin down pushing that overtime

We r really excited to get out and enjoy the trails with the kids and dogs and go camping off grid!

Oh and thanks for starting this JLU sport s forum everything I’ve been reading is rubicon this and that and I came across this 30 mins ago!

Sport S's.....ROLL OUT! Installed LED Headlights, LED Foglights, LED Switch backs. Did 20% on the front windows including the sun shade. Installed the EVO 2.5 stage 1 boost myself with the help of a buddy. Installed the Mopar door guards and fuel door....de-badged it as well.

Bad ass Rig... It's funny people flock to the Ruby's! Yes nice but like my Stang I wanted a blank canvas. I totally looked at the Rubicon but then realized I'm ABSOLUTELY NOT GOING TO ROCK CRAWL! I don't need front and real Dana 44s...so its a waste. I So I opted for a loaded Sport S... I really liked the Trailhawk Grand Cherokee look, soooo I'm copying it in my Wrangler ... I have the non slip Dana 44 rear and now 2.5" lift with 35" Patagonia Mt's and Blacked out hood and it's my canvas... Just have fun! But be honest with yourself and don't over purchase. Rubicon mall crawler?? Lol what a shame!

Thanks for your opinion, I never opted for the optional audio system on a car before. Just wanted to make sure
I love sound and looked seriously at the Alpine.. For 1400 bucks? Uhhhh no. I went base set up. For $900 I'll get a JL sub/amp combo and some Infinity components and won't look back... Here's my Tacoma and it destroys that alpine for less..

What lift and tire size?
37s and was a EVO 2.5in spacer kit but I have since then swapped in EVO 3.5in springs with rough country .75in spacers up front to counter my bumper weight. I didn't regear. I don't feel the need as I just cruise in this truck. Whenever I go aftermarket axles in a few years, I'll worry about gears then.

Is that 900 setup water proof/resistant?

You also get the larger screen, off road pages, etc... with the adder...

The standard speakers make my hard top rattle... I can't imagine adding a sub-woofer would make it any more pleasant.
