The miata wasn't fast in a straight line, but you'd be hard pressed to find anything in is price range that could keep up on the corners. Weirdly not only is 4.5s 0-60 not fast, the Bronco Raptor is a better choice if you want to go fast... with its 6.5s 0-60. Some how their 418hp/440ftlbs are still slower than the pentastar JL with its 285hp 0-60... but Jeeps aren't fast.

Numbers don't lie. At least the '92 and up version would beat everything but the 392. Before that the early rx7s would get gapped by the pentastar. Of course not even a fan boy of the Mazdas would claim 8.1s 0-60 from a sports car is fast.

This is such a non-statement...of course numbers don't lie, they can't even make statements. The problem isn't the numbers, its the folks who read them and don't understand what they're saying...or just read the wrong ones.

Good thing no one has done that then? Unlike all the claims the Jeep is fast.

Newer XR 4.56 equipped ones with the 33" tires from a standard model, should make the pass quicker as there is plenty of traction, and the gearing advantage should launch faster, and the 8 spd has plenty of overdrive, so not likely to run out of top end.
Yes, perhaps I should have said “even” the 3.73’s. The XR times I saw were slightly better, but not as much as expected. Although having XR’d mine my butt trap speed says the difference is bigger.
Keep the 33’s, eliminate the heavy AF beadlock capable. I lost 10 lbs a wheel from the 31 lb 7.5’s with forged wheels.

Because 4.5s 0-60 is still fast even in the modern context. The fact that it's a stock Jeep on 35s makes it even more impressive. I know you disagree on that part, but there are plenty of sports cars even now that aren't that fast.

Even my GC SRT shows a 4.8 0-60 , same engine, smaller, lighter, more aerodynamic, performance tires, but higher gears.

You keep getting hung up on 0-60 of one halo model and not the actual argument. The Wrangler isnt something you buy to go fast, its not a good platform to build something to go fast unless you plan to almost completely redesign the whole thing and almost start over, and its not in ever really been its core dna about going fast.

CAN you make a Jeep fast, and is the 392 quick for what it is? For sure, and I don't think anyone is arguing against that point.

glad to see this threads devolved into the usual slap fight over a subjective opinion

OP, i think you should get a motorcycle if you wants to offroad quickly, i can say personally thats far more fun pushing a 40hp 2 wheeler than my wrangler at the same speeds. can i interest you in a 23' verseys-x 300? id like to get an africa twin lmao

The argument doesn't make sense. Even though even the base JL is quicker than most of its competitors including the Bronco raptor halo model it's not fast and the wrong platform for off roading at speed? I agree it's the wrong platform if you want a track car or desert only rig. If you want a faster trail rig that can still run hard trails it's the only platform. Everything else is too wide. IFS sucks in the big rocks far more than solid axles do in the desert. Unless your building an ultra 4 car or buggy, but that's not comparable in the least.

Coming from having Gti for years. Trust me we don’t go fast in our jeeps 😅.

Broncos meeeh but still they couldn’t keep up with a simple Gti, they are just not made for that.

Couldn’t be happier with my manual torquish JLU though. I feel like a real man lol. I won’t be able to drive any other car again. ✌🏻
