Remanufactured engines are the go-to for warranty repairs. It’s only because the supply chain sucks right now that they’re on approximately a 6 week back order.

If you look up JL wrangler engine noise on YouTube you will find other engines that sound like OP's video. 58willys jeep is a 2018 which was the first year and you could still get a 2018 JK back then because they changed to the JL half way through that year. I bet they either put in a different oil pump or different ECM software after 2019. Ive noticed that the 2018 models are quieter than the new ones.
They don’t, and they didn’t.

@mwilk012 thanks for all of your replies. You are always active and informative, not just on my post but many other threads I've followed. Crossing my fingers they get this right. I don't want to be the negative Nancy guy on the forums. I know every vehicle has common problems, which doesn't mean it's a bad vehicle. Clearly the 3.6 is a solid engine overall, but if you get one with one of these issues they need to resolve it correctly. ?

You should be good as new when they get it all buttoned up. I’d feel much, much better about a properly built factory engine than one rebuilt at a dealership by the average technician. They’re very delicate and complex engines.

Maybe I missed it in one of the previous posts, but did the dealer say what broke or caused the malfunction?

Evidently it stems from a lifter issue

So update... Just got my baby back allegedly with a brand new (NOT remanufactured) 2023 long block. She sounded great the day I picked her up. She had an additional 14 miles on her from when I dropped her off, so I assume they did some test drive. I live 45 miles or so from the dealer. One day into having her back I'm hearing a tapping and whistling again. At first I thought I'm just starting to hear things, so I had a buddy with a 3.6 let me record his... Nothing like mine. So I took a video (I'll attach here) and sent it to my service advisor who has been excellent. She sent it to the service tech who basically said it's a known issue and there isn't anything more that we can do. Fortunately Jeep customer retention proactively reached out to me and opened a case prior to them even dropping the engine in it. Idk what to do anymore. I don't want to have it bought back (if that's even an option) as snazzberry isn't an option anymore ?. I just want her right. I went to my local dealer and took a video of a 2022 with the 3.6 6 speed identical to mine other than theirs was a strip down unlimited sport to my "real" 2 door rubi ?. I'm attaching the links below. Let me know, so you'll think it's a lifter issue again? It's not the diesel sound I was getting before, but it's definitely not right imo. As always tha ks for looking and giving me your opinions. I love this community

Ps I have zero interest in an unlimited, especially a strip down sport (no offense to anyone who has one), i just told the salesman that to get him to get the keys and let me behind the wheel

let it break in forsure. its all under warranty. I'd send the oil from your first oil change out for a report on it. they test to see what mat. where found in it. etc then do a second oil chnage at the correct mileage and retest. should give you everything you need to know

Had my 2021 3.6 put in the shop with a tapping noise. They diagnosed it the same as my dad did as a lifter/cam issue. Took it back the other day and here we are again. Now it's making a sucking/whistle noise. Let me know what you think.

I have a 2018 Rubicon U. JL. Head gasket went at 45k. Now I have rocker/lifter tick at 52k. What sucks is than the intake rockers for the JL are "more robust" and different than he exhaust rockers. And price difference, $130 a per for intake, only around $18 for exhaust rocker. All the lifters are inexpensive. I'm just praying its one of the exhaust rockers. I wanted to replace all of the rockers, but no more of that like you could with the JK's and the Melling 1332's, unless you have deep pockets. Also... you do not want to even know what a camshaft costs for the JL's. I'm really starting to hate the engineering that went into these Pentastars. I was 4 months out of my warranty with the head gasket and Jeep would not even work with me, not even 50/50. I paid A LOT of money for this jeep and have done nothing but baby it with maintenance. Oil changed every 4,000 without fail. I'm hearing more and more stories about these rocker issues. There should be an investigation into it honestly. I'll never own another 3.6, thats for sure.
