I have $5000 of that coversfd
BTW, if your insurance covers Custom Parts & Equipment (CPE), then some part of your mods may be covered for anywhere between $1,000 to $5,000. Again, save your receipts and expect depreciation included by the adjuster. Of course if your like me and have well above $5,000 of mods, then something like tredder.com may be the best option. That is the option I am considering. Just waiting to hear back from a local agent if they can find other options to consider as well.
I have $5000 of that coverage. Hardly makes a dent in tons or coilovers.

The parent of Tredder is Tokio Marine. Have you done any research on them? 😳

BTW, Tokyo Marine is the underwriter, not the parent company. See post #13 in this thread for some background info on them.

Here is some additional info from the tredder.com FAQ page https://tredder.com/faq :

WHO UNDERWRITES YOUR POLICIES?
Tokio Marine HCC is a member of the Tokio Marine Group, a premier global company founded in 1879 with a market capitalization of $73 billion as of June 30, 2024.
Headquartered in Houston, Texas, Tokio Marine HCC is a leading specialty insurance group with offices in the United States, Mexico, the United Kingdom and Continental Europe.
Tokio Marine HCC is the marketing name used to describe the affiliated companies under the common ownership of HCC Insurance Holdings, Inc., a Delaware-incorporated insurance holding company. For more information about Tokio Marine HCC, please visit www.tokiomarinehcc.com.

And a little more background info on their partnership with Tredder:

https://www.tmhcc.com/en-us/news-an...nture-insurance-in-groundbreaking-partnership

That is all I have.

From what I’ve read, it feels like Tokio is financially sound because they don’t pay out on policies… but… this is new. It’ll be interesting to see how it plays out.

They do all kinds of travel insurance and there are tons of exclusions that you don’t find out about until your claim is denied.

“Nothing” is being charitable, I fear. A lot of my own mods will be seen as dollar-negative by the next owner. I sure as hell enjoy ‘em, notwithstanding.

To wit: we all might be able to return certain mods to OE stock in order to trade in or in order to have a settlement discussion with an insurer, no?

I’m not sure a winch, CB, bottle-jack, or whatever needs to stay with the husk of a vehicle. That’s probably a lawyer question.

I dunno. I’ll ford that stream when I get to it, I guess?
Very true I should have said negative value. Most folks who are smart, will not buy a heavily modded Jeep.

I pulled the trigger on an agreed value policy with Tredder insurance (tredder.com). $367/bi-annual with $2,000 deductible for $30,000 of coverage on all mods and upgrades. Deductible options were from $500 to $5,000. I will keep my regular auto policy with USAA.

I mean, do you think you are at risk of theft? That might be only way I consider supplimental. Otherwise, I break it on trail, I fix it. I think the cost of protecting exceeds what you will get. Remember, if another person hits you, they pay to fix you.

Good luck with that in Florida. Florida is a no fault insurance state. I'll go ahead and piss you off before you get to the end; I say this from 100% experience.

Sitting at a red light, middle of the day, doing absolutely everything correct (other than living in Florida). Inattentive driver slams into the rear of my then JK. 100% her fault. Says she had her phone in her hand, but was not using it.

You guessed. No fault insurance state, I had to file through my insurance and let them sort it out. My vehicle did not have near the damage that her Honda Accord did because I was lifted on 35's so she went under the rear of mine.

My rear tires rested on her hood.

The insurance company (singular, I'll get to that in a minute) agreed that I was a contributing factor not to the accident, but to the additional damage to her vehicle because I raised the vehicle height from OEM, which, by the way was insured through the same insurance carrier, and as a result, because I was deemed to have some fault, my rates increased.

Aren't insurance companies grand, especially in no-fault states.

Oh, and one more thing; both the other driver and I were insured by ...........................the same insurance company. 🤨 I guess they agreed with themselves. Sounds like a Jim Carey movie, Me, Myself and Irene.

So there's that.

Florida No-Fault Who Pays for Car Damage?
In Florida, if a car accident causes car damage, the driver must go through their own insurance company to pay the damages. If their coverage isn’t enough, they can file a lawsuit against the driver responsible for the accident.

Who Pays for Car Damage in a No-Fault State?
In a no-fault state, each driver and their insurance company is responsible for paying for their own damages.

Who Determines Fault in a Car Accident in Florida?
Florida is a no-fault state, so if a car accident occurs, the parties’ insurance companies determine who is at fault and whether they share some level of fault. This helps the insurers decide the appropriate compensation amount.

Does a No-Fault Accident Go on Your Record in Florida?
In Florida, a no-fault accident will go on your record. This information can stay for three to five years or even up to 10 for a severe crash.

Are you serious? Mary Jane Bimbo Rear-ends you at stop light and you are cool to go buy your own new D60 and high-dollar bumper?

No, they don’t pay to fix you if they are uninsured or underinsured. We had 2 accidents this year, one was parked, the other was a lane violation, and one was uninsured… a semi, no less. It’s our household’s second uninsured motorist claim in the last 5 years.

As far as whether an insured motorist’s insurance will pay for mods, that varies state to state, and can be a battle.

FYI, just looked at Tedder's website, and they stopped writing new policies.

Interesting. I'll have to contact them and ask if I should be concerned. I just renewed recently for another six months.
