Still waiting for the 3.6L Pentastar/Automatic Transmission combo to be available in the 2-door Wrangler. It is SO FRUSTRATING that this combo is available in the 4-door, but not the 2-door.

Stellantis is shooting themselves in the foot by not making this available. It would seem Stellantis would need every sale they could get, but I personally have postponed ordering a new 2-door Rubicon for at least a year because of this.

Wanted to order a 2025 last year. The 2025 model year 2-door is not available with the 3.6L/auto trans combo, but the 4-door is. Makes no sense.

I think it’s also a weight thing. 2-door is front heavy as is. The 3.6l adds extra. And frankly, both are kinda very average in every way so doesn’t really make a difference other than a subjective one.

Just get the 2.0? From what I've seen, they seem to have less big issues than the 3.6.
No thank you on the turbocharged 2.0L, 4 cylinder engine!

Premium gas? NO THANKS! I know you can also use 87 octane, but that reduces both the power and the torque.

Turbocharger? No thanks! Much more complexity and more to go wrong after the warranty expires, and I don't drive in high altitudes where the turbo would maintain power better.

Direct Injection only No thanks! I don't want my valves to be filthy and loaded with carbon after the warranty expires.

The 3.6L is naturally aspirated, has port injection, which automatically cleans the valves, and has plenty of power for me, and uses regular gas.

I have owned 3 Wranglers with the 3.6, and that's the engine I want.

Weight issue? You must be joking. I have had 3 Wrangler 2-door models with the 3.6L and there is no weight issue.

It doesn't require premium gas- the hp/torque/mpg is rated at 87 octane fuel. I've always run 87 just fine.

The turbocharger is pretty simple with the 2.0...if it ever goes bad, you can pick up a new one for less than $1000. It's not comparable to the hurricane platform if that is what you are alluding to.

You make the 3.6 (the updated version now in the JL) sound simple and proven like some Toyota engine. The updated 3.6 is riddled with significant issues- I don't really think you would fare any worse with the 2.0. You would even benefit from a far superior power/torque profile and mpgs of the 2.0. I've owned both and the 3.6 is an absolute dog engine- I had a "simple 3.6" catastrophically fail at 500 miles actually.

Go ahead and take a look on the forum here at the 3.6 reliability lately with lifter, oil pump, oil leaking, and bearing issues. If it makes you feel better that it's not DI and has no turbo, go for it- both of them are Jeep engines that are equivalently unreliable. Sometimes "old school" is no better than new though, particularly with the awful performance of the 3.6.

Also, a complete engine is about the same for the 3.6 or 2.0 from the dealer. I really doubt your dealer would do anything but swap a complete engine if you had some significant engine issue.

I didn’t say “issue”. Don’t put words in my mouth. The front end of a 2door with 3.6 vs 2.0 is heavier. Whether that makes a difference or not can be subjective. I will translate your (subjective) contribution to “It makes no difference”, even factually in lbs there is one.

There must be a certain age where squeezing into a two door back seat is a "what?"
I'm at that age...🤣
Your friends will apprciate a real door to get into and exit..get the 4 door with your engine of choice.👍

But I don't have any friends. Does that mean I should get a 2 door?
