Jeep Wrangler JL speaker polarity questions 1639857121120

The previous snip is from the Crutchfield master sheet. As I wait for my Metra harness to be delivered, I am curious as to how some people found the Metra harness to be reversed. Was it the harness? or was it backward in the Jeep? Was it ALL Metra harnesses or just a certain batch? I am running the 7" non alpine (to which I have added an amplifier).

Thanks

I just saw a video on youtube where someone swapping the sound bar speakers hooked some wires to a 9v battery to check the speaker polarity. I intend to use that method to check polarity prior to swapping out my sound bar speakers.

I've read that it's better to use a 1.5 volt (I think a 9 volt popped some tweeters). According to the techs at Crutchfield most of the issues came with people using the wrong harness. The 2 harnesses for the jeep are 72-6514 & 72-7902. I installed my 4" kickers in the soundbar with NO issues, the 3.5" kickers would not fit without cutting so they are going back, and I will get a pair of the Mopar Dart kicker upgrades. FWIW upfront I'm running 6.5" kicker components in the Metra speaker pods. (I had a local audio shop install those). It sounds amazing.

@CMTAZ Which 4" speakers did you use. I want to swap mine out too and not sure what to get. Also do you know the impedance of the stock 4" speakers (might be market on them). I've already done the Kicker Dart 3.5s in the dash and rollbar. Huge improvement. ;)

The two plugs are different. I am going with the Select Increment sound bar adapters with Infinity components for my audio build.

47ksc404, I've got the kicker components up front. I should also mention that I'm running a Kenwood XR 600 running in 5 channel mode powering the fronts, sound bar and a 12 inch pioneer shallow mount subwoofer.

So was there a noticeable improvement when swapping the 4" speakers with the Kicker 47ksc404?

I thought so, the front stage is great. The soundbar was being set for rear fill (it sounded very flat). The 4 inch kickers added alot of fidelity, I have them filtered around 270 - 300 hertz at the amp (the Kenwood amp has a built in DSP). It sounds good enough that I probably do not need to replace the soundbar tweeters, BUT with 4 channels capable of pushing 75 watts, it is my guess that I'll probably blow them. Might as well change them out to finish the audio build.

Thanks. I was wondering about bass blockers for them, but if stock doesn't have them, I thought I could get away without. Thoughts?
I have a couple 133uF caps sitting around. I think that might be about a 300 hz filter. Seems a little high, but maybe not for a 4" speaker.

The specs for the 47KSC40 list 60hz to20khz. I know they exaggerate, but seems like the bass blockers might not be necessary..

I thought about that, but I took the easy way out and used the high pass filter on my amp. I also high passed the front 6.5 inch kickers. I low passed the sub slightly lower than the high pass on the kicker fronts. The soundbar was high passed somewhere around 300 hz not so much for the 4 inch kickers, but I still have the jeep factory tweeters installed.

Yes, but I would not want to run high wattage through at 60 hz. I tested this out with several different styles of music, and I was able to achieve high to damaging volumes cleanly. Then I backed the amp down a little.

The dart speakers are a great upgrade for the 3.5". I did use a bass blocker for them. They do sound fantastic.
