I lifted my 2021 Rubicon with the mopar 2" lift. I wanted to run 35s, but the dealer said I would have to upgrade my spare tire mount to accommodate the weight difference between the 33" tire that is currently on it. Is this true, and does anyone have 35s on their stock wheel mount? Thanks for the help.

Complete bollocks, Rubicon stock carrier can accommodate 35s just fine. Many here have done so.

Yeah I agree, and another option would be getting a relocation plate for like $70. You can also extend out the stops at the bottom which seem to add support and keep the tire from moving.

You should be fine with 35s and the rubicon carrier. If not, get the relocation plate. The rough country one works well enough.

You could even get the one below for $30 if you wanted and it would work well.

12,000 miles into running a Milestar Patagonia MT 35" and fifteen52 0 offset 17" wheel on the stock spare mount and no issues at all. Tailgate is level and opens and closes as it did with the stock 33. Buddy of mine runs much heavier raceline beadlocks and BFG KM3 35s and also has not had an issue although this is probably my upper limit for trusting the tailgate. Any bigger and I'd upgrade the carrier.

Only thing I would maybe avoid is any other accessory that could add weight to the tailgate at the same time. I wouldn't secure a jack or fuel / water containers on it unless you upgrade the hinge.

Yes, 35s on stock rubicon carrier will clear the stock bumper just fine, with room to spare.
The relocation plate is usually used if you go for 37s or aftermarket bumper with less clearance.
Also using relocation plate would push the tire further out which introduce more stress onto the tailgate, so I wouldn't use it unless necessary

Photo above is of my 35s on stock rubicon carrier clearing stock bumper. I see no reason to add unnecessary weight onto the tailgate.

I would definitely try the 35s on the stock rubicon carrier first.

l couldn't get 37s on with my relocation plate with the sport carrier but happened to pick up a rubicon carrier that I still need to put on. The poison spyder rear bumper sits higher at the spot where the bottom of the tire is compared to other aftermarket bumpers and even the stock bumper.

35s with the relocation plate and stops extended have not resulted in any problems so far with my jeep or my buddys jeep who has the same setup. I went to 37s and he is about to as well. I have to put the rubicon carrier on first before I can put my spare on though.

Thank you for your feedback and advice. That was very helpful. I had another question, how much does the speedometer readout differ running 35s from the stock 33s?

Around 7-8% difference. Typically you will be going around 5mph faster than speedometer at highway speeds.

You can get the speedometer calibrated at the dealer(not recommended), or use Tazer / Flashcal programmers however.
