Just started this morning. I’ve logged about 1,000 miles on my new ACT clutch and it’s been phenomenal. I don’t think this has anything to do with the new clutch.

It’s absurdly humid, today, and I wonder if that is a factor.

Anyway, push clutch to floor and when it reaches the end of its travel there is a “click” sound. Sounds almost like a relay.

Position sensor or interlock switch?

Any other thoughts?

Pedal and clutch feel normal. No change whatsoever to engagement or movement. At least not in the 10 or so miles I’ve gone since it started to click.

Oh, I can replicate with Jeep off using my hand. Stuck my head under the dash, but don’t see much.

I had something similar after replacing my factory clutch with Centerforce, but their kit included new hydraulics. During my install, I apparently didnt fully seat the pedal connection to the new master cylinder properly. It clicked, but not enough? I would feel a clicking, but it was at the top of my push, not the floor. Maybe visually inspect that part, just to rule out something stupid?

Strangest thing. It’s gone, today.

I think the extreme humidity was making the interlock switch stick (the one that tells the Jeep clutch is disengaged so engine can start). Saw a bunch of threads and a recall for this switch on JKs. It’s an analog switch.

I'm due for install this weekend... I'll be watching... and listening.
Thank you for the mention of this.

Could be an "air bubble" in the hydraulics that finally made it's way out of the system.

Does the click happen when the vehicle is off? If you pull the relay to the CPS, does it happen? I don’t know how the sensor works but in a previous life with actuators we’d start with the “does it happen with the power off” test.

Do you think this has to do with the clutch spring? Seems like most people have solved a squeak by removing the spring and then lubricating it and putting it back. Maybe its the spring binding and then releasing? Work a shot as its easy to remove and replace with no tools.

Once it starts happening, yes it can be replicated with vehicle off. I’ve figured out it only starts happening after 10-15 miles of around town driving.

That’s a good thought. I know the spring is simple to remove. I’ll try it, though the fact that it only happens after Jeep is well warmed up makes me think it’s the interlock. (Saw in other thread about interlock that it’s actuated via a magnet in the master cylinder).

I watched @Actman ‘s video on how to remove the spring. Let me just say that it looks a lot easier when the pedal assembly is mounted to a rack! ?

It was a feat to position myself so that I could hold the pedal down and also wiggle the spring free. It shot out and 1/2 of the plastic slider in the middle fell behind the footwell trim. Thankfully that trim pops of rather easily.

Once in hand I realized that my lithium grease is in my tool bag that my son borrowed. Doh! So I just cleaned it and sprayed with WD-40. Not sure how long that will last.

Will it solve my issue? I’m not sure, but I just did a 20 mile round trip and everything was quiet. While it might be my imagination, I swear that the pedal returns more smoothly now. The plastic slider in the middle of the spring was quite dusty and gritty. ?‍♂

Stay tuned for my “it didn’t work” reply in a day or two. I’m fairly pessimistic because the click really does sound like a switch, and I’m just not seeing how the spring can make any noise even if dirty.

Oh, and eff that driver’s seat slide rail. I’ve got a hell of a bruise on my right lat this morning from having to press against it.

FWIW I’m 6’ tall and fit. I can’t imagine a short, fat guy being able to remove and reinstall that spring! It would be much easier with a box/platform to lay on, if you could get it the right height.

I’m a meager 5’8” and fit….. and hoping I don’t have to do this Cirq de Soleil acrobatic thing. I’ve spent more than enough time under that footwell.

Indeed. I’m an original two piece Tazer owner. Used to suck connecting/disconnecting the secure gateway bypass until @SwissSteph sourced extension cables. This spring is even more difficult!

This is my side. My lat is worse.

If the click is solved it’ll have been worth it. Just back from errands and all was quiet. ?

Well, I think this was it! Lots of driving in the past two days and no click. Yay!

I think when the two pieces of plastic were at their widest point (clutch pedal on floor), they would stick together and make a sound when collapsed.

Next time I will spray in place rather than remove.

Thanks for the idea!

The only reason I thought of it was because I read another thread where the spring was causing a squeak. Glad to hear it was something simple.
