Now that those of us in Portland, OR are finally getting some sunshine, a quick question about the OEM soft top on a 2024 JLU. I've been able to gain some competency in folding the top into the sunrider position, but it seems there are two sunrider positions available. One exposes the front and rear seats, the other, just the front seats. Does this have to do with the finger latch that swivels on the 3rd rib that you push to release it?

I've been having to fold it back by myself, so things get a little busy lifting, pulling. pushing while trying to get the folds to lay relatively flat. I've really not seen any documentation on how exactly the moving part is on the 3rd rib from the front comes into play enabling or disabling particular positions. In fact I don't remember seeing any mention of the 3rd rib release at all. Certainly nothing in all the videos showing soft top operation.

Appreciate if someone would take a minute and walk me through the trick of mastering this monster. Thanks!

I'm not sure what you are referring to. The softop has only one position in sunrider and that exposes both the front and rear seats. Not sure what you are having trouble with trying to get it to fold flat either, you can just unlatch it from under the sunvisors and fold it back, no reason to fuss with any of the fabric.

The next position is all the way back/down, which requires you to remove the rear windows. There is a pull latch that is in the middle of the top rear that then allows you to fold the top entirely down and the top sits on the top of the tailgate basically. Those finger latches you mentioned are for releasing the top from the frame track so that you can unbolt and entirely remove the top itself from the vehicle. don't unbolt the soft top without locking the mounts first (there is a lock and unlock symbol next to the latch) otherwise you'll have a very hard time getting it back into position by hand to re-mount it on the vehicle.

I'll take your word for it. I thought at one point I had it folded back that only the front seats were exposed, but who knows, I may have been delirious that my wife said she liked the top being open.

I have opening the top all the way down figured out, thanks. Nice to know what the finger latches are for. Thanks for the reply.
