Hello gang, searched the forum, but just way too much to filter through and wanted a narrower field to sort through. Have a '26 MOAB and looking to ditch the factory sliders, and get something that also functions as a step. The Mrs. isn't thrilled about me "helping" her into the rig in public (Jeep version of the Tush Push). Had AMP Research on my prior Tundra and they were fine. Expensive.., but fine. Like the look of the Westin Triple, but not sure it is low enough to be a great step, but does offer some body protection whilst under way. Thoughts, what you have, what you like, don't like, and the always important..., would you buy them again.

Thanks in advance!!

I tried the AIG bolt on step to the original Jeep rock rail and it did not help much at all. M.O.R.E. off road makes a foldable bolt on step for the stock rock rails that is pretty useful. I went with Metal cloak flip step/rock rails. It is OK as a step but I think the MORE off road step would be a bit more useful.

I had AMP on my '14 Dragon wrangler. Frankly I didn't like how low the mechanism hung down when folded. Tradedvthe rig foy my present '21 JLURD and went with the RSE step sliders with the optional armor. Much better for the running I do.

Why not both?

RSE step sliders are my wife’s favorite mod. Add the additional armor if you wheel.

Here’s a good video from one of our very own forum members @ExpeditionBuilds who actually uses his Jeep for doing Jeep things and works hard to get us discount codes. I had these in the garage waiting to be installed before the Jeep even arrived and installed them myself at home.

Thanks for the question, Cartage1. I too have been trying to decide on working sliders and an integrated step would be awesome. I kind of focused in on the RSE slider/steps with optional armor but have not found any info on how tough they really are out on the trail. Can anybody chime in on the toughness of the RSE sliders/optional armor? Otherwise I'm back to the weld-on boatside sliders like Next Venture.
Thanks.

We had them on our JK and now have them on our JL. The JL has about a 3" lift on 35s, and my decrepit knees cannot handle that without help.
The only issue we've had was that a tech at the dealership apparently stepped on one when it wasn't all the way down and damaged the motor and connector. We've started pulling the fuse when we take it to them.
Otherwise, they work great as sliders and have held up beautifully on both Jeeps. We do have the extra armor on the steps, the light kit, and the doors off kit. Will absolutely buy again.

I think you have to be honest with yourself about how abusive you will be. Mine have taken hits, been pivoted on, but mostly slid across and gouged up on the bottom surface. With a vertically challenged wife the true sliders are a non starter for us.

If your wheeling involves coming down hard into rocks repeatedly and nobody needs the assist getting in, then a weld on slider makes more sense.

@Ratbert has done some pretty good damage

I have the AMP power steps on my 2 door with a 3" lift and I love them. I do a couple Jeep Jamborees where I get into some rock crawling and have scuffed them up a bit. The steps have held up well but if I had to do it over again I would go with the Rock Slide Engineering steps with the additional armor.
I recently bought a 2025 4 door Rubicon X that I don't plan on doing any serious off roading with. I want a decent step but didn't want to spend the money for the RSE's so thought I would try the Nxtgen CrossTerrain removable steps. They attach to the factory Rubi Rails and are removable if I go off road. Unlike some of the other brands that clamp onto the Rubi Rails, these drop down enough to give me a decent step. So far I'm very happy with them.

This may help speak to the robustness of the RSE step slider with optional armor.

Dang! "Ask and you shall receive...." Thanks for the video, Mr. Terry! It's sold me on RSE!

Since I added the Toyo 38's a couple weeks ago, getting in the Jeep has become more of a focused effort. Still easily doable but it takes a little more controlled effort to "jump" and land my ass squarely in the seat. I've been considering the RSE sliders/steps as an alt to the many weld on boatside sliders out there. This video sold me on their "trail toughness." Considering my type of wheeling, the RSE sliders will work fine. And my wife will love 'em as well! Win-win.

Mr. Steven, thanks much! Your video was exactly what I was looking for. I'm not a die-hard rock crawler but I still wanted a product that was tough enough to protect the rockers when I do need it. As well as providing a little easier entry into my Jeep (for my wife of course - wink, wink). And you provided a 10% off code was well. How awesome is that for an early Sunday morning?

Once I finish the install of the Steer Smarts front end components, the RSE sliders w/optional armor are next on my list!

Thanks again, sir.

Another "confessional..." I'm sold! And thanks for the "fuse" tip. I'll remember that one.

And that's coming from a former AMP step owner. Those things turned out to be pretty useless after any exposure at the mudhole.

Happy to assist✌🏻 I've beat on mine pretty hard on the trails as well as submerging them on water crossings and they've held up well.

I recently had to replace a motor on my drivers side due a dead battery and a passenger stepping on the partially deployed step that ruined the motor. RSE sent me a new motor?motherboard combo and I'm happy to report the motor swap was very straight forward. I think I'm going to create a video on the motor swap/maintenance .

my wife is 5'1" and SS age :) and has no issues getting in my lifted jlur on 37's using the MORE hydastep. I have been all over moab and even tho they are easily removable I have not had to pull them off and they have never made contact. while I have not done pritchet canyon I have done Steel bender, moab rim, behind the rocks etc with no issues..
