Tonight, when I was trying to close my sky one-touch top on my 2020 jeep wrangler unlimited Sahara, I could hear it closing as usual, and then I heard what sounded like something cracking, and then the top stopped closing and the dash told me that there was an obstacle. when I looked back to see what the obstacle was, I could see that the white frame the top is attached to and then to the jeep body was cracked and then some very small pieces fell. I can't get it closed.

After looking up online about how to get the top closed, it told me to not try and close it with the power again. it did suggest to cover the half closed top with a tarp or something to protect the inside from the elements outside. it also suggested for me to manually close it, which I am going to attempt next.
It also told me that this is a problem that has only one solution, a full replacement. And that price tag is out of my reach.

If I can get it closed and after thinking about my options, a full replacement or converting to a hardtop, does anyone have any opinions and or suggestions?
I tried looking up the top on the mopar website, but the top itself is composed of numerous parts instead of a one part purchase so I don't know the exact price of the replacement (even if I install it myself which I'm brave enough to try).

thanks everyone!

you can buy the entire top as a single unit. it just bolts on. i think maybe one part might need to be swapped over, it's been awhile

When mine stuck “obstacle” it was the broken plastic track end of a crossbar. I cleared the broken pieces and it closed. That’s the good news. Well, here’s the bad news , $1,730 for

one two bar crossbar track end, nearly all labor to remove, disassemble to weave in the new one and reinstall. … max care covered minus $100 deductible. This Time, 3 years 2 months coverage left. Replacing the whole top if possible is likely cheaper considering labor, homework required.

@2nd 392 could you tell me where that piece is located exactly on the top? I don’t see it right away and there are no pieces that have broken&fallen to the floor.
Also here is a picture of some damage that I have discovered. How this happened, I have absolutely no clue.
Earlier in the day I spent well over 5 hours cleaning the inside (shampooing the seats, vacuuming, detailing the entire inside, top open to get all the spaces between the top and inside), washing the entire outside of the vehicle, washing the tires and wheels next, to drying off, to trim work, to tire and wheel work. No problems. Did some running around town, maybe an hours worth of driving with the top back (max speed limit in town is 45mpg (I did max 48mph). Then when I go to close I heard the sound d, got the obstacle message and that’s that.

@AlphaWolf of you by chance know a web link to go to let me know. I did find one with Extreme Terrain ($3,124.99 minus 10%off) and Mopar has one for $3,283.25 + $347.30 for conversion kit)

I have also just noticed that when looking straight down to the rear of the jeep, the top on the left is raised from the frame, on the right, it looks pressed down. So it is off track somewhere but I can’t see where.
I really just need to get it to where I can get it closed and latched/secured, u til I can figure out what I’m going to do because this is a price tag I just don’t have right now

@scottcox1105 - the crossbars are in two bar sections. The leading one runs on the tracks, the other folds up. That piece is from the track bar end over the passenger side rear seat. .. The top was never hit from either the top or bottom to my knowledge, it was only through a brushed car wash it’s first wash. It was being opened at ~30 mph. My only wild guess possibility is the high powered blow dryer at the hand wash then brushless tunnel used.
The rest of that broken piece was on the floor, but the top wouldn’t close until it was spotted and removed from the track.

Has anyone ever actually converted their sky one touch top to a hardtop, or know of anyone who has?
I think I have found the two part numbers I need, one is the hard top itself, and the other is the hardtop conversion kit. I’ve been pretty successful thus far with fixing and replacing things on my own thus far, I want to know how difficult this would be for me to do
