Hi everyone!

I just started noticing yesterday that when I put my JL in reverse after a cold start, and start to roll a bit, I feel a clunk under my feet. It just happens once and seems to only happen when it's from a cold start. I'm deaf so I can't really explain it other than just feeling a clunk. I'm hoping to get some ideas of what to check before bringing it to a shop.

Thanks!

Mine will do it too so I let it idle down for 15 seconds. It's just due to the high rpm trans pressure

I've noticed it for years, and consider it a characteristic of the vehicle.

There are actually two possibilities here (that I know of). 1 - is the "JL shift", the clunk you get when you put it in reverse from park. This is normal, from my experience. 2 - is the LCA mounts...this is a similar clunk but happens after you start moving. It is fixed by tightening the LCA mount bolts.

My current JLUR exhibits number 2 occasionally, and all four JL's that i've owned exhibited number 1.

id be curious. do you use you parking brake? most people do it wrong. you should full engage the parking brake before shifting out of drive or reverse to put it into park. this allows the weight to be transferred into the parking brake and not the transmission. I would love to see if that helps you
