I really only want a Bluetooth radio to play my smartphone audio (Android and IOS). The basic Uconnect3 seems to do that but there seem to be a lot of comments on upgrading from Uconnect3 and problems with that system.

Is it really justified to spend $1K to add the technology package to a Sport S to get the Uconnect4 (i.e. avoid Uconnect3)? Is the Uconnect3 that bad?

This is my first post, be gentle. ;)

Personal experience. It's fine for Bluetooth as long as you don't mind it skipping ever so often. Also don't expect the microphone to understand you half the time when trying to make a call.

It is worse than my 6 year old base level Ford sync system for comparison.

For posterity, very glad we upgraded to the Uconnect4. It's very usable and great with an iPhone (and I'd imagine Android too).

UConnect 4 on 2-dr Sport. Very pleased. No issues with connections or Android Auto.
