I’m itching to get off-road this weekend and am thinking about running down to Uwharrie for part of the day Saturday and hit Daniel with a buddy, then (since it appears camping is booked at Uwharrie) head down mid-afternoon to the SCAR alternate northeast route dropping in near Carolina Sandhills Nat’l Wildife refuge, running that up to Nantahala, then slab it back to Asheville … campingalong the way.
my questions: how much of this is actually on dirt (from wildlife to nantahala)? What kind of speed do you normally make through that section? Is this even worth the drive?
I’ve done a ton through NC and have some great routes, just looking for something a little different this wknd.
I’m also open to any suggestions in the SE so long as I can make it there from AVL in a reasonable amount of time. High difficulty routes are no issue.
TIA-
