Anyone planning on going wheeling this Friday? I’ve got family in bound, so this Friday is the last free day I’ll have until next month.

I’m planning on hitting either Oriflamme - Rodriguez (will be my first time) OR Sandstone Canyon at borrego.

Planning on rolling out around 0900.

Oriflamme @ 9 or leaving SD @ 9? I really need to buy my wife a Christmas present still but a day on the trails might be good.
plan on heading there around 9. I don’t like to wake up early unless I’m working. Lol

Cool I don't like getting up early either. If i actually wake up maybe I'll head out. I'll hit up the post in the morning if I'm on my way.

Just returned from wheelin.

I DO NOT recommend going alone here, unless you’ve already got some seat time with shelf roads and riding around off camber.

The ruts are MASSIVE and a lot of them lean you TOWARDS the cliff side. A wrong tire placement can lead to a very bad weekend.

I had to get out every few feet to asses and figure out the lines, which got tiring quick as I was also on a time crunch before sunset. Lol

With that said I did have a good time, and only got a few new pinstripes, rashes the crap out of the beauty ring on the wheels and put the new sliders to use.

I only saw one other Jeeper out doing the downhill loop.

I’ll be back again for sure. Maybe in the summer

Which trail did you end up at ? Oriflamme or Sandstone Canyon? They are both unfamiliar to me.

That was the first trail I did with my new '19 JLUR, had about 400 miles on it. Got a couple small nicks in a couple of wheels. Had done it previously in my "05 TJ on a wet very light rain day. Both times starting in Mason Valley and going up Oriflamme and down Rodriguez. I prefer going up the shelf road, usually means less screaming from the passenger seat. Might have to try it the other way sometime.

That’s the way I went. Went down Rodriguez coming from Banner and back up Oriflamme.
The ruts were massive and many are leaning towards the cliff side. I’m not sure if it’s any easier going down instead of up.
