Hello,
I have had my winch installed for a little over a year. In that time i have had to use my winch 4 or 5 times. The last time I was pulling a buddy out of a mud hole and the winch plate bent at the back and torqued on the winch breaking the supports. While the Rusty's winch plate is thick (1/4") It lacks some of the extra support other winch plates have. The bend is right at the back where the weld is. Has anyone else experienced an issue like this?

No but I’ve got one. Never used the winch for anything but very light duty yet. Are you going to ask Rusty’s if they’ll pay to repair or replace your winch as well as replace the failed plate?

I called Rusty's, and they told me I need to go through Quadratec since that is where I bought it. I have been in Contact with Quadtratec and sent them the images. It has been a week now and quadratec says no word from rusty's yet. Don't they know I need my jeep back ready for anything!!

I'm hoping they will refund the money I'd like to try the Warn winch plate. it looks like it has more support, even though I may need to mod a bit to get it to fit (according to the reviews). I was able to order the rails and fix the winch for $20 so that is not too bad.

If they decide to replace instead of refund, I will be getting some steel and reinforcing it myself.

Thats true, it could have been worse, I would have thought the weak point in the system would be the synthetic line. No it was not double line.

how long have you had this? I know you said you’ve had your winch a year but did you buy the winch plate and it sit on it a while before installing?

I want to say I remember others having some isolated issues with the rustys plate but its been so long and things begin to run together after a while. Hopefully the company will help you out. I know Rusty’s is a good company too.

We install the mopar one (warn) and no negative reports yet.

I am very impressed with the Mopar / Warn winch plate. Worth the extra dough IMHO.

Same here.

When I need to rely on a part to NOT break or fail (which is dang near every part in a Jeep's steering, suspension, and recovery system, I believe wholeheartedly in the saying "you get what you pay for". Not saying Rusty's is cheap (in quality), but there's only a few brands/manufacturers which I trust to put on my Jeep. If that means I have to wait and save up, sell a kidney, or whatever, then I wait and buy the highest quality I can.

I don't know what the Rusty's reply to them was, but Quadratec has stepped up and made it right. They are shipping me a warm winch plate as a replacement. I have used them to get a lot of the parts on my jeep and they have been great to deal with.
