Hey Guys,
Here"s my build progress and a few tips I have learned along the way as everything I am trying to do myself!! The best thing about owning a jeep is there so fun to work on. I ordered this in may and hit my dealer in late July. Since adding about 900 miles I have done a few mods. I installed the Mopar 2in Lift with up dated spring pads, I did order the Rock Krawler pads as back up but have not installed them yet as the lift looks pretty good. According to the instructions you should have a slight spring bow to the outside of the wheels as I do, so i may just send those pads back. After the lift was installed I can tell you based on the Alignment print (enclosed) out that I would highly recommend anyone installing this to get theirs done. After installing the lift I drove it for a while to let it settle in before adding the Cooper STT pro 37x12.50x17 on my fuel wheels and re-aligned. I added the Smittybuilt tire relocation bracket as well as Synergy bump stop pads to keep the tire from moving, I have yet to install the synergy pads but they look and feel very firm and i think it will make a huge difference in the tire from bouncing when I hit a pothole. The Smittybuilt bracket was pretty straight forword and does allow you to fit a 37in tire with room for a 40 in. Im still not convinced the Mopar tire support kit is worth the money based on its over all design IMO. The ride quality is top notch for a Jeep with 37in tires, I did run my PSI down to 31 and no TPSM light as of yet but I do have the Superchips programmer coming. I do get some slight bumping on my steering wheel when i hit a big pot hole but nothing alarming. My speedo is off by 4.5 mph but will be corrected with programmer as well as shifting points. The shifting points now are off a bit both with up shift and down shift as it tends to stay in higher gears as you are coming to a stop then drops fast but that is due to the tire size calculation and not a huge issue right now. So far the jeep is very enjoyable to drive and I can barely here the hum of the tires. I wish the A/C would be a bit colder, here in AZ it hits 118f and takes a while to cool that leather down. As far as adjusting the headlights, I think the lift made them better as they were aimed a bit to low from the factory so no adjustment has been needed. I am waiting for smitybuilt to release there XRC line for the JL as I have always been a fan of there bumpers and the market right now is pretty slim.
Now for the bad stuff:
The cooper STT pro tires are great but im on my 3rd one from discount tire trying to balance them without having to add 28oz of weight. The Manager at discount tire has been great and says sometimes they get a bad batch from cooper so we will see. I have 3 tires that balance at 9oz and the rest are boat anchors.
The Wheels are a-12 offset, not use to them sticking out so far, I should of went with a -6 but everybody says the wider stance looks better, im just not crazy about getting the whole side of my jeep pitted with rocks so i ordered a few rolls of 3m clear bra just in case.
Thanks!!
