I'm hoping to get a little insight for troubleshooting purposes here.

The situation:
I ordered my JLUR without the factory LED option, and recently replaced the halogen bulbs on the DRL and turns with aftermarket LED bulbs. Now, this issue may have existed before but I never noticed my running lights, but the drivers side DRL is only on when the headlights are on, and the passenger side DRL is only on when the headlights are off. Under no switch position or lighting conditions do both DRL's illuminate.

The question:
How are the DRL's supposed to work? I assume they should be on when headlights are off, but on at all times is acceptable to me as well.
Also, what could possibly lead to my situation?

‍♂ Sounds like a defect that the dealership Could probably address by re-flashing the system you might want to reinstall you oems to see if that same problem exists with them..

I was hoping to avoid the dealership on this one, but since I have to go in for the cruise control recall anyway I'll mention it.

Unfortunately I'm about 1600 miles from home and don't have my oem bulbs with me, so I'm just going over troubleshooting options.

Fun fact, I used my tazer to set the DRL region to Canada, and the lights reversed.

Interesting.

From the owner’s manual.

Daytime Running Lights — If Equipped
The headlights come on at a low intensity level when shifted into any position other than PARK (auto transmis- sion) or when the vehicle begins to move (manual trans- mission).
NOTE: The Daytime Running Light, on the same side of the vehicle as the active turn signal, will turn off automati- cally when a turn signal is in operation and turn on again when the turn signal is not operating

I believe there is a setting in UConnect to turn DRL on/off. You could try turning them off then on again.

Thanks, yea I tried disabling and re-enabling DRL, to no avail. I found if I turn the headlight knob to the first position for "parking light" the DRL's are both on.
