I recently bought a 2019 Sport S with just under 28,000 miles. It has the 3.6 and the 8 speed transmission. My 2013 Wrangler also has the 3.6, but I'm still getting used to the transmission on the '19. I notice that when I'm traveling at around 50mph and hit the brake to slow down (usually while going downhill), the RPMs spike slightly as the transmission downshifts. It'll be 1500 rpm and, when I brake it jumps to around 2500-3000 for a few seconds.
I drive around at 55mph at 1500rpms regularly, 65 at 2000rpms on flat roads. It's just when I brake that I get that weird, momentary spike. Is that normal? My '13 doesn't do that, but it also has a different transmission. I just wanted to check and see if this is something I need to keep an eye on or have checked out. It seems to function fine otherwise.
