I have a 2016 JKU with 38,000 miles. Been having some issues when raining outside. When in neutral while driving (slowing down at a red light for example). The engine revs up for a few seconds and then returns.l Occasionally the rev is quite high in the rpm’s and I turned the vehicle off out of concern. No check engine light. Any ideas?

I have had similar experiences with other vehicles in the past. It was usually the throttle positioning sensor.

Yea, floor mats stuck on the throttle pedal.
I have seen that actually not let a motor rev before. It was a 4.7 WK. I guess it threw the pedal position sensor off or something. Fixed the floor mat, restarted it and everything was back to normal.

OP I think you have water getting into a connection somewhere as this is only happening in the rain. I would start by looking to see if any of the engine wiring is loose. If so spray some electrical contact cleaner to help dry them out and reconnect.

Will give this a try. Thank you.
