To lock the door push the button (ONLY)

If you grab the handle and push the button your door will do nothing.

You have to do one or the other.

Wife and I were 'duped' by the term "Keyless" when we bought our JL in February. 6 months later we STILL are wishing we had the proximity system. I gave her a carabiner to clip the FOB (aka "Brick") to her purse. I was sure to give her one of quality such as is used for rappelling to take the load...

Please be very clear on the opening sequence. Yes, you do unlock the door by grabbing the door handle only. But, that is only step one of a two step process for unlocking the door. Opening the door becomes step three:

1 ... grab the door handle only
2 ... pause for a second while the Jeep checks for the fob
3 ... open the door

Folks new to the FCA Keyless entry design tend to try to rip the door handles off the vehicle because they simply grab and pull ... without the pause.

BTW ... I love the system ... not the pause part of it, but the ability to keep your key in your pocket while opening the door and entering the Jeep. I've had the system on my Grand Cherokees since at least 2007 ... can't remember if the 2004 had it. Like power windows, I thought it was a so-so feature when paying for the first one ... but now, if available, I wouldn't be without it.

Saw there are keyless entry add on kits avail to pair with aftermarket alarm systems. Anyone tried these or know any reason it wouldn’t work?

Bumping...anyone know on the post above if this is possible with the JL? Seems like an easy alternative for those without the keyless proximity option...

Can the Remote Proximity Keyless Entry feature be added after the fact? It will be configured from the factory with the cold package/remote start if that makes a difference in the answer.

A few have tried unsuccessfully and expensively. Might be easier to get an alarm with proximity unlock feature which would unlock your doors when you approached. I’ve seen that on the JKs but have not seen or know if it’s possible on th JL.

If you set it to 'unlock driver door only' mode, is it possible to grab the driver handle twice and have all 5 doors unlocked? (Just like you press the unlock button on your key fob to unlock all doors.) Or is the only way to unlock all doors to grab the passenger handle?
