I want to put 285 70 17 wildpeaks or KO2s on my Willys but don't know if I should regear. The jeep is currently running it's stock 32s. I have the 3.6 auto.

I am curious if I can fit the bigger tires or if I need to regear. Does the M220 in the rear make a difference? And why would Jeep put a 32 on a 3.45 gear ratio from the factory when according to the gear charts, it technically needs a higher gear ratio.

Any help would be appreciated.

I wouldn’t regear for a one inch increase in size. I doubt you’d notice much of a difference between the two, especially if the 33s don’t weigh much more.

No need. I running 285/70/17’s on my Sport S-zero issues, Speedo is 2 mph low @70 mph per gps. Jeep runs great.

I went with 285 70 17 on my 2021 Willys with 2.5 lift with the 6 speed manual. Runs fine other than the complaints you see on the forums about the gearing causing problems in 5 and 6 at highway speeds.
