Recommendations on radio upgrade

Hi all, first time poster here so I apologize in advance if this has been answered before. I recently purchased a 2019 JL Wrangler Unlimited Sport 4dw. I purchased the rig with quite a few upgrades already however I’m still rocking the good ole 5in U connect radio. Would love to upgrade but not interested in dropping $1,500 for the 8.1in Infotainment system, looking for recommendations that won’t break the bank.

Honestly there arent many options that are less than the 1k mark i believe. I've only seen two after markets used on JLs. Alpine and insane audio. Personally unless something striking comes out then imma stay with my 8.1 inch. If FCA releases the new uconnect 5 for the JLs then might upgrade to that for wireless carplay/android auto. Since you have the 5 inch screen maybe go with insane audio, thatll give you the best upgrade IM without going to the 3k alpine.

I installed one of these in my Sport and really like it:

Its a PX5 Android radio and theres a few companies that sell them.

If you go this route, you will also need something like this to reuse the rear camera:

Or you can run new ones. I added a front camera with my install.

Anyway, not a bad solution for the $300 - $500.

Metra has a dash kit for the jlu and according to crutchfield there are 3 units that are compatible with the jl 1 is 400ish the other are under 350

Appreciate all the recommendations, given the limited options on the market right now I went ahead and dropped the money for the 8.4 upgrade from Infotainment, great group of guys have chatting with them for a period of time, looking forward to getting this installed as soon as it arrive!
