Recommendations?Mt Hood and Rainier

Going to be staying in the Portland area in just over a week, already have Tillamook planned for one day but was looking to do some trails in the Mt Hood area or some that are worth the drive up possibly to Mt Rainier. I know both are snow covered at the moment, I have also thought about heading to Tahuya State forest as an option, just not sure about the trail options surrounding the two Mt’s.

In the Portland area, Brown's Camp/Tillamook is your best bet for actual trails needing 4 Low. The area around Mt Rainier also has a lot of good trails (e.g. Elbe Hills, Evans Creek, Naches), but most popular trails are probably closed for the winter season. Tahuya is small but can be interesting. However, I don't think Tahuya is worth the drive from Portland. I know there is very little around Mt. St Helens. I'm not familiar with the Mt Hood area, but I suspect the trails are very limited there.

Appreciate the recommendations, might end up checking out Elbe hills, only about a 2 hour drive from where we are staying.

( FYI, might not be open until March 31)

it's a 3 hour drive from Portland area, but very popular with all 4 wheelers.

Also this sunny weekend you will get very good views of Mt Rainier

Depending on your tolerance for body damage, consider staying away from Busywild trail. There are several YouTube videos on this one trail.
