I’ve had multiple JL Rubicons, all with the soft top option. I bought 2 this year, one was delivered in January of 22 and the other in May of 22. The one delivered in January had the exact same window design as every other JL I have had, but my latest one has a design change on the side window sliding rail with a much longer and angled starter that makes getting the window onto the slider much easier than it was before (not that it was that hard before, but it’s even easier now).

I think the biggest flaw with the old design was that sometimes you would start it in the hole on the rail and then as you slid it along the rail it would start to come out of the bottom and stretch out the tubing. Over time I could see that causing problems. This way it follows along the guide and seems to go on all the way with no problems.

Nice, definitely looks like an improvement over lining up the cone.

Thanks to this forum, I always unlatch the top and open it just a little to relieve the tension. It helps with running the tube along the rail. Once the rear windows are installed, I then relatch the top. It's worked well for me over the last year.

Oh man. I’d love to retrofit my ‘21 Soft Top with those redesigned inserts. Has anyone found a part number yet?

@Bestop Any chance these will be a serviceable item available through Jeep dealers?

Thank you,
- Benny
Any chance you've heard back on these? I think they would be serious game-changers in this community to be honest. All I see online is the old part number "Mopar 68430118AA" available. I would love to not see my quarter-windows sag and fatigue the window groove anymore.

Thanks for asking earlier too. Much appreciated.

Following since mine came from the factory without one on the driver's side.

I’m curious OP if the rear is any different too? That’s the window I always fight with every time I’m putting them back on. I’d say probably 1 in 5 attempts of me putting it back on goes smoothly. The other 4/5ths of the time it takes me probably 5 to 10 minutes of getting the angle right lmao I feel like an idiot every time.

The sides are often a struggle too, don’t get me wrong, but the rear gives me heartburn damn near every time lol

Mine looks like the pic above, was ordered Dec 21, delivered April 22. Gonna try the unlatch trick mentioned above.

What did the former one look like?

My issue is I almost always put them in at dusk after I see rain is forecasted. The super black top against the still light sky makes the mating parts very difficult to see.
