Hey all,

The rear parking sensor on my 2022 JLU XR is going off randomly. I brought it to the dealership, and they told me “the oversized tire is getting in the way and triggering the parking sensor” — nevermind that it’s the stock 35” tire!

They told me there’s nothing they can do because the sensor works normally, the tire and the carrier are all stock from the factory, and warranty only covers replacement of parts but there’s nothing to replace here.

Did anyone else have this problem? Is there anything I can do to get it fixed? They made it sound like there’s a design problem with the XR package that they can’t and won’t fix.

Their response to you is BS, you probably should get Jeep Cares involved, find another service department, or both. If they are blowing you off no this, they're going to be a real pain for more important things.

Something you can check yourself though, but you may have to take the spare off to see. Underneath the plastic tire carrier you should have spacers (circled in red). It should also have the pieces circled in blue to lift the carrier up about an inch (circled in blue).

Here is the blue circled parts installed, (you can only see them sticking out on the bottom):

If that is missing, the tire can cause the rear sensors to trigger.
If it is there, I'm not sure what would do it, perhaps the sensors are installed incorrectly.

Thanks, I do have the spacers and the carrier lifting thingie. They said there’s nothing wrong with the way the parking sensor sits, apparently it’s just under the triggering threshold normally, and just over it in my Jeep — it doesn’t even always trigger, it’s somewhat random.

Hmm... if you take the spare off do the sensors stay quiet? Maybe ask the service manager if they will cover the cost of you backing over someone because you've learned to ignore the alerts. This kind of stuff irks me...
