Ok, bought he rear cargo mat system that attaches mats to the back of the seats and the gap cover. My issue is every time so lower or raise the seats the mats pop off the seats and gap hider.

They are connected using plastic mounting hardware that clicks in. I figured they’d be a bit harder to detach but the cone loose pretty easily.

Anyone else have this issue and if so any solutions.

No. Installed mine a few days ago, dropped the seats about 20 times to test it all out. No issues. Also, for the install in a Sahara JLU, it’s not required to remove the gap cover or anythinng else. Simply feel around for the circular ring holes in the back of the seats and the gap cover section and poke holes in them and then carefully use scissors to widen that hole to get some material out of the hole so the grommet can snap in easily. Done. If your mat detaches really easy the grommet rings may not be pushed into the seat back or gap cover enough. Check that.

Hey, so I guess that my thoughts from the cartoon instruction sheets was right, you have to cut the seat covers to install these?

Do you have any pics of the install, or a link to a video? I got the molar kit today from the Brown truck guys but now I'm not sure I want to cut my rear seat cover for a solution I may not keep forever (I have the canvasback on order as well).

Any tips are appreciated.

I used the video here. The guy in the video also has a video of the install for a spiderweb shade. On this cargo mat video, I did everything he did except for removing the gap cover. The gap cover does not actually need to be removed to install the lower portion of the cargo mat. You simply need to fold back the cover flap so that you can find and punch the proper holes for the grommet install.

I'm having the same problem as the OP, the mat is popping off the gap hider....
Can you one of you guys take a video showing us exactly how/when it is popping off? Maybe that will help us understand what is different with your install vs our install.

I love how the guy in the video does it all with a decent sized fixed blade knife.

*Guy in the video here... I didn't feel like searching for a smaller knife and took the first one within reach! I thought it was funny
Nothing wrong with using a big knife.

Thank you for the JL videos, they were very helpful.

Same here with the mat popping off the gap cover. I can only put down the small side of the seat because there's a child seat on the other part of the split. I thought maybe it was because I'm only putting down part of it that it can't stay attached. I also had to install the gap cover and bracket, as I have cloth seats.

Are you sure that the grommets are snapped together firmly enough?
