So I purchased a 7" radio head from a forum member (no unlock code provided). I installed it last night and today drove down to the dealership (Luke Jeep, Phoenix, AZ) where I purchased my Wrangler JLU a few months ago. I had all the new radio info, along with my VIN. Here's what transpired when I asked about getting an unlock code.
1st. Well to do that, it's a service department job. If you want, we can do it, but we will not be able to get to it until next week at the earliest, most likely 2 weeks. It will take at least an hour to get the code and the cost is $149 service fee. You can leave the vehicle. If you don't, you cannot make an appointment for getting a code.
Well needless to say, I didn't leave the vehicle. I called a few other local Jeep dealers and they told me they could do it in 5 - 10 minutes, but require I appear in person with the vehicle, and I will also need the VIN of the vehicle it CAME OUT OF. This is to show it was not stolen.
So, I have tried contacting the seller but have not received any response yet.
Does anyone on this forum know of, or can provide assistance in getting an unlock code? There has too be another alternative that jumping through these hoops or paying a huge amount and have to wait 2 weeks!!
Thank you to anyone who can respond and point me in the right direction.

So I started calling dealerships (even out of state) and many stated that they could complete the task, but I would have to be there in person. I even called some Automotive radio installation shops and most stated they did not have access to getting or generating unlock codes.
I then called a dealership about 30 miles from my residence (Larry Miller Dodge, Peoria, AZ). They told me to come by, bring whatever paperwork I had on the purchase (to try to make an effort to determine it was not stolen), and they would generate the code...at no cost! Well, I had just left the house, enroute to the dealership when I received a call from the service department. The manager said that the tech who did the code unlocks wasn't feeling well and would most likely be leaving. So, he asked for my vehicle VIN and the serial number of the radio (which I had taken a picture of before installation) and he said he would call back. About 4 minutes later I received a call back and he provided me with a code that unlocked the radio. That's a great dealership! Problem solved.
