I have able to purchase the 7" radio and any other components needed, my personal vehicle has the 5" POS, I understand that I will lose the volume control knob by completing the swap, I'm wondering if I by the a/c control panel for the 7" if I will then be able to use that volume button without losing another feature such as the start stop button. I have been unable to locate any pictures to compare.

Do you use the volume knob? I use the steering wheel probably 99% of the time. Plus, that sounds like an expensive option. But it's my understanding that you use the steering wheel or the screen. I'm also planning on upgrading my 5" this fall.

For what I paid for the jeep, I would like to make it as close to factory functional as possible, the a/c controls for the 7/8" are much nicer looking also and its not really that expensive considering the overall cost, controls are around $150, let me know if you are interested in a 7" radio as I have a few available and they are a lot cheaper than the infotainment option.

No kidding that infotainment is crazy! I even tried to order thru different dealers, but all said they weren't allowed by FCA. I just assumed that the AC was expensive :giggle:. But, it does look extremely easy to update :like:

The short answer is no, simply swapping out the control panel after swapping out the 5' radio for the 7' won't give you volume controls back. Do a search for this discussion for much more information: Upgrading from the 5" UConnect3 to 7" UConnect4?

However, having done the 5 to 7 swap i can tell you i really don't miss the volume controls on the radio.

Thanks. I read that entire thread, kind of skimmer it, 38 pages, I was only paying attention to the actual radio swap and failed to look at the answers to my question.
It's a shame something as simple as a radio swap is such a PITA!

As manufacturers integrate more functions into the main display it gets exponentially more difficult to upgrade. At lest with the Jeep it's modular enough that you CAN upgrade and still retain critical functions.

There are 3 more radios available as of right this minute, they come without the bezel (radio only) and the VIN is included to get the needed security code, I do not know if there is a cost to get the code from a dealer, seems some have had to pay and others have not so I guess it depends on the dealer.
They can be purchase for $325.00 plus shipping and they will ship out within a day or two depending on when and how you pay.
I'm making $25.00 per radio, I assume if I had not put ebay on my permanent ban list I could list them there and actually make some money off them.
