A few days ago I went to start my 2019 Wrangler Rubicon with 2.0 engine and eTorque. Lights and alarms started blinking and it wouldn't start. Obviously the battery was drained. Since the same thing had happened a couple months prior, I thought perhaps it was the Tazer JL Mini draining it. So I hooked up my battery charger and also unplugged the Tazer (yes, I reconnected the cables under the dash). The next day, when I went to start the Jeep for the first time, noticed the radio screen (8.4") did not come on. I figured it had something to do with the battery problem, so I anticipated needing to go to the dealer, and so I plugged the Tazer back in expecting to unmarry it before going to the dealer. To my surprise, the radio screen worked perfectly again. My next step was to unmarry the Tazer to see what happens. After unmarrying and then removing the Tazer, I started the Jeep. Again, the radio was not working. Plugged the Tazer back in and restarted the Jeep and the radio was back on, even though the Tazer shows to not be married.

As it is now, it appears I will be stuck using the Tazer. But what if I need to go to the dealership and have to remove it? Any ideas to fix this? I've tried removing fuses F11 and F97. Also tried removing the negative battery cable for several minutes. I emailed ZAutomotive and the recommendation was to disconnect the negative battery cable, which I had already tried.

Edit: Found another thread with same problem. https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/tazer-jl-radio.48741/

I'm updating my thread in case others have a similar problem. My Jeep spent 2 weeks at the dealership. First they tried to replace the Security Gateway Module. That did not fix it. Next they replaced the radio. It took 4-5 days to get one in. I knew that wasn't going to solve it, but they insisted because that's the next step in their troubleshooting guide related to the radio. When that didn't work, they opened a Star case with Jeep. After a couple days they decided to test wiring and found a bent pin in one of the connectors that plugs into the Security Gateway. Apparently when the cable was plugged into the Tazer, it was a good enough connection that everything worked, despite the bent pin. But when the plug was in the Security Gateway, the radio didn't work. They replaced the cable that had the bad connector pin, and now everything works.

Took two JLs in for service and had the same thing happen to both of them. No radio with the Tazer unmarried.

I have my Tazer set up so that it can remain plugged in during service, there is a setting you can use. Hasn't been an issue at all for me and it spent a month at the dealer having the rear differential rebuilt.

That would be nice. Only thing worse than unplugging the SGW, is plugging it back in.

Looks I’m selling this one with the Tazer connected or the head unit is bricked.

How do you set that up. I seem to be having this issue, I am using the extension cables have not tried removing them but that will be the next step. I would prefer to just leave it connected. I have to bring the JLU in for the recall update.

Interested in how to leave the Tazer but problem solved one of the extension cables was loose.
