I'm a new owner of a 2020 Sport 4 door. Its completely stock and has 40k miles on it. I havent done any updates yet with the exception of a stubby antenna and few cosmetic items. 3 times now ive had issues when I start it up where the radio doesn't power on initially and when it does power on, there is a loud sound (crack/pop) that sounds like a power surge through the speakers. Kinda like an AMP suddenly powering up. When this happens the radio loses all power and the clock on the radio is always off by a couple hours. Kinda like you removed the battery cable.

Has anyone experienced anything similar or does anyone have any idea on how to diagnose this issue?

Not new to jeeps, just to newer jeeps and this board.

Thanks in advanced for any help.

Early on I would on rare occasion have the radio not power up when started and would have to turn the Jeep off, open the door, then restart the Jeep and it would be fine.

But it hasn't done that in a long time now.

sounds like a cold solder issue, my 2000 WS6 had this issue and i had to take apart the radio and re-solder the joint to fix the issue. with a cold solder you could go years without noticing, you hit a bump at the right speed and you will start noticing said problem alot more, then it might randomly go away, i would check all power cables including the remote blue wire to the amp if you have one, but still sounds like a head unit issue to me

My 2020 wrangler is doing the exact same thing. No rhyme no reason. They’ve replaced the stereo three times and still does it. They have no clue. Did you ever find a solution?

thank you

I have not found a solution. But strangely enough I haven't had the issue since I made this post. So hopefully it resolved itself. Did you replace the radio with a stock radio or aftermarket?

Good luck and let me know if you find a solution.
