Question - what is this piece?

2018 JL Rubi 2 Door. I looked at passenger side rear wheel well(See pic with squiggly line) there is a plastic piece that runs the length of the wheel well. The drivers side piece is longer than the passenger. Just curious if this is how the heck its supposed to be

I'm confused. Are you referring to the wheel well cover? On the driver's side the fill tube for the gas tank runs along the frame right there, so that's probably why the retaining clip is up a bit higher than the passenger side.
