I just found that Quaker State makes a 5W 40 full synthetic that meets the MS-12991 standard with an API SN. I used the Pennzoil Euro Platinum Plus last time. The QState is about 4.50 a quart vs. 7.50 for the Pennzoil. Is it too good to be true or is it a worthwhile savings?

I have been running it in both of ours since Stellantis stopped paying for the oil changes. 78k on mine and 66k on hers with no issues. Also 5 qt bottle can be had from WalMart for about $23.

They are made by the same company, Shell Oil. Different additives but same standards.

Pennzoil bought Quaker State and then Shell bought Pennzoil.

Pennzoil and Quaker State exist only as product names only.

I purchased a new JL Willys 2 door this year and learned a few things from my Jeep dealer's service department in addition to what's in the Owner's Manual.

First thing I learned is that Jeep MS-6395 is a motor oil specification for Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Ram vehicles. There are several different oil brands that meet MS-6395... but more on that in a moment.

My owner's manual recommends 0W-20. That's what I use.

The dealership service department told me that when a new Jeep leaves Toledo, the oil in use is Pennzoil Platinum.

When I go to the Jeep dealership's parts department and inquire about purchaing oil, they bring out a case of Pennzoil Platinum.

I was also told about Pennzoil's warranty plan. I checked it out and signed up. Here is the link if you want to read more: https://www.pennzoil.com/en_us/warranty.html

I have a 3.6 in my JL. I also learned from the service deparment guys to do a few things when changing oil. Before changing oil, warm up the engine to regular operating temperature, add one can (11 oz) of BG P/N 109. After adding the BG P/N 109, I drive my JL for about 20 minutes at 15 to 25 mph to keep the engine running at around 1500 rpm. I return to my garage and drain the oil and let it drain until it's not dripping any fluid. I replace the cartridge filter using a genuine MOPAR product from the dealership. There have been comments about who makes the MOPAR filter. Not long ago, another Jeep owner posted a review comparing the genuine MOPAR filter to filters by WIX and one other company that are sold as compatible for the Jeep. I decided to take a closer look myself and after picking up the MOPAR filter from the dealership, I purchased a WIX brand filter sold as a direct replacement for the Jeep 3.6. There is a difference in the appearance, material, and number of pleats. I will continue to purchase genuine MOPAR.

I use 0W-20 Pennzoil Ultra Platinum and follow that with one can (11 oz) of BG P/N 115 also recommended by the dealership service department.

After finishing the oil change, I sign into the Pennzoil web site and log my oil chage information.

That's what I do.

Hope this helps.

It doesn’t apply to this diesel thread (different oil and filter) but glad that works for you.
