I have to agree, hitch pins can be bent, but

EACH recovery situation has to be thoroughly investigated to determine the SAFEST/BEST recovery method to follow-

I have pulled/free'd many "stuck" jeeps using my PINTLE/rear hitch--that's been in snow and sand--and using a "RECOVERY" strap !

Deep in mud could/will change the whole dynamics--
