I bought a 2018 Wrangler Rubicon a few months ago. Part of what I like about it was the 37” tires. However, it appeared that the previous owner had not regeared it. Before I bought it, the dealership reflashed the vehicle for the larger tires so that the speedometer was accurate. I figured I’d do the regear later.
Two months later, I worked with a mechanic shop to change the gear ratio to 4.88. After all the parts had been replaced, they informed me that they couldn’t update the gear ratio in the vehicle’s computer due to possible previous aftermarket software in there. The Jeep was stuck in limp mode since the new gears didn’t match what the computer thought was there.
I took it to a dealership and sure enough a P1400 Aftermarket Calibration Detected code showed up. The dealership I bought the Jeep from (different dealership then the one that found the code) states that there was no indication of aftermarket software when they sold it to me. The current dealership did a reflash reset on the PCM.
I haven’t tried using another tuner yet. Has anyone else had experience with this?
