I recently got this in the mail but I'm having trouble removing the plug under the dash. I've looked at the actual device to understand the plug and the tab.

I can hold the tab down. I can wiggle it front to back and side to side. There is no wiggle room in/out. I can get an index finger on the tab and on the little ledge on the opposite side to help pull but I can't get the plug out.

This seems to be a pretty simple mechanism so either I'm doing it incorrectly or that plug is really stuck in there.

Any hints?

So how did this story end..............were you able to get the plug out and replace it with the smart device. I'm facing the same problem right now.

Almost set myself up for a heat stroke or worse this morning. No one else home, and I'm coming from the passenger side upside down in an attempt to get that damn plug out. Did manage to get it out (hoping it was the correct one).........but could not get the smart device plug to go back into that hole.
I have likely been upside down under dashs more than most others..........in my younger days working in the new car dept and installing radios in new Chevys.
But I'm now in my 80's and am finding I can't do that stuff very well anymore.
Nearly got stuck under there but finally was able to re-connect the plug that I had pulled out originally. Could not understand why I could not get smart plug to fit in that hole.

Guess I need to find a younger helper with smaller hands as that is a very tight space to reach under there. Meantime, I'm stuck pushing that f***ing button every time I start out.

I ended up getting it out. It just took more force than I expected. Small hands can help since the space under there is so tight. I had a couple of good cuts on my hands from the metal.

One word of advice. I would also suggest getting a SGW Extension cable when you do get it disconnected. ZAutomotive/Tazer makes one that works well. It makes plugging and unplugging in the future much easier. It was a pita to do it again when I got the cable. Do it only once.
