Hi all,
I’m installing a set of Rock Hard 4x4 sliders onto a 2024 JLUR, and have run into a problem. I got the new slider installed onto the driver side, with fairly little trouble. On the passenger side, I got the slider put in place, with the bolts going through the pinch weld holes (all holes were reamed out to at least 1/2” as suggested by RH). Unfortunately, the hole in the slider’s bracket for the rear body mount bolt doesn’t line up with the body mount hole, to the point that I can’t possibly get the bolt through (the other holes all line up - the middle body mount hole is slightly off but likely close enough to get a bolt through).
I talked to Rock Hard, they suggested pulling on the body mount to get the holes to line up. Specifically, they said:
“The body mount moves some, remember that sleeve is in rubber. If not get a big pry bar or even a ratchet strap on the rocker if you can and pull it over. Just need to get the bolt in there, the mount is rubber and the sleeve will move.”
This makes me fairly nervous, as it seems pulling on the body mount would force the bolt to go in at a significant angle, and even if it works, I could be fastening the sliders with considerable tension forced into the frame. The RH guy said not to worry about those things, but I still am.
Does anyone with more experience think that the suggestion from RH makes sense? Has anyone else had this issue, and if so, what’d you end up doing?
