Hey guys,
Let me preface this post by saying I am a frequent vehicle hypochondriac. I regularly think I hear an odd noise, or something feels different, etc., which I later determine was just in my head. Done this with all my cars/trucks.
The Jeep is a 2018 Rubicon and the relevant parts are a 2 in. Mopar lift, 35's, Mopar Beadlocks, the Teraflex adjustable steering stabilizer and adjustable track bar. I have had the steel steering box swap done.
My deadspot wasn't bad to begin with, but the steel box did improve it. For about the last week I feel like the dead spot has gotten worse. Not that it feels bigger, but almost like there is barely any resistance while in the dead spot. Seems to have gotten harder to keep in a lane going straight, and even with the car off, the wheel still turns an inch or two pretty easily. The only "events" I can think of that may have caused something are 1) I had to make a very hard left swerve to avoid an accident about a week ago, and 2) It's been super cold here in Atlanta. Well below freezing and began about the same time I noticed the steering.
I've checked the torque on the steering box, stabilizer and track bar and they are fine. Anyone out there think either of those two things could have broken or loosened something? Or something else? Any reported issues with the steel steering box? Or is this all in my head?
