ParkingBreak , Right Mirror , and weird thing : JLU Issues

Hi dears ,

I recently bough my first Jeep a JLU 2019 / 62k M / 20T . And i noticed 2 issues , a part of it is perfect:

1. After parking, when I pull the manual brake, I hear a clear “toc” sound midway through pulling the lever. If I push it back down and pull it again, the sound doesn’t occur, but it happens again after driving and parking. Could this be a worn cable, or is this a known issue? Any ideas?


2. The passenger-side rearview mirror moves horizontally but doesn’t adjust vertically. While it’s not a major issue since I don’t need to adjust it daily, it’s a bit annoying. Does anyone know if this is easy to fix?


3. Additionally, today while driving, I noticed a strange sensor on the windshield. (I don’t have any assistive cruise on the Jeep,) so I’m curious—does anyone know what it might be? (image attached to thread)

1. Maybe a squirt of WD-40 in the right place, idk.

2. Manual mirrors or electric?
To adjust my mirrors manually, it takes a little more preasure to adjust them vertically.

3. I'm just guessing here but that sensor could be a temperature sensor or maybe its a small microphone for hands free talking through the stereo.

Ok just a wild guess and probably wrong. Do you have an external radio antenna? I can’t really tell from the pic but could it be an in glass antenna of some sort?

Since it is used it’s an add on accessory. May be satellite radio antenna. Not a factory thing

All of your issues are being caused by the duck. Get rid of the duck, all will be fine (and even if it doesn't fix everything, at least you got rid of the duck).

Looks like it may be some sort of multimedia antenna. Do you have DAB or Digital Audio Broadcasting in your country?

Bingo, you are right!


I do have DAB, which is .. the standard here in Europe.

This makes me realize that the external big antenna is essentially useless … here

It’s not too hard to remove it if it’s useless . I mostly only listen to XM satellite radio. I used a 13” Rydonair antenna and moved it under the dash behind the glove box. I covered the antenna opening with a black trail rated badge. Reception is decreased but I very rarely listen to am/fm stations anyway.
