Hello everyone

I'm new here in this forum and would like to hear your opinion on the car sound issue.

I have a Rubicon JLU 21 with an 8.4 " UConnect screen with upgraded Alpine premium audio package.

I upgraded the speakers in the sound bar (with a 6.5" pod ) Alpine speaker and also the speakers in the dash using a metra pod, also a 6.5" kicker speaker.

The sound is good but when you turn up the volume (number 30 and above) you hear the sound very loud and not "sharp and clean". Need an equalizer or DSP for direction the sound.

I realized that it is possible to install the PAC-AP4-CH41 which is supposed to connect directly to the screen, but I did not understand what it actually gives? Is it necessary to connect another external amplifier to it? What about the speakers? - Staying in the original wiring or having to pull new wires to the external amplifier?

Can anyone make me some order with this?

many thanks

The unit supplies RCA (or optical with module) out from the factory head unit to external amps. It provides a clean “low level” signal to you new amps. I’m in the process of gathering equipment for my JLUR build and this is the unit I’m using to pull signal from the factory head.

To hopefully answer your other questions, yes you need external amp(s) with the PAC piece.

What you’re likely hearing with your current setup is the factory amp clipping. This is most likely due to a difference in efficiency between the factory speakers and the aftermarket speakers you installed. Also the impedance of the factory speakers are usually 2ohms vs most aftermarket mids are 4ohm. Since the factory amp was designed to drive the factory speakers, it is likely clipping (distorting) driving the aftermarket speakers.

How do you fix it? The best way is to put all aftermarket speakers and amplifiers with a DSP to control equalization, crossovers and delays. The PAC piece you asked about would be the first link in the aftermarket chain.

Thank you very much for the reply
If I understand correctly, I need the PAC unit that will be connected directly to 8.4" screen , and olso from the PAC unit RCA cables came out to a separate external amplifier, and from the external amplifier need a new wire cables to the speakers ?

What speakers are you running in the soundbar? You say that you are using Kicker in the dash. Is that the kick panel or the dash?

That is correct. The PAC unit wires inline with the factory head unit wiring. You will then run RCA's to aftermarket amps. You COULD take speaker wires from the aftermarket amp, run them to where the factory amp is located and tie in to the factory wiring (after disconnecting them from the factory amp) but in most cases, running new speaker wires to your speaker locations is preferred. You're going to need to replace the connectors that connect to the factory speakers anyway if you're using aftermarket speakers so tying the new speaker wires to the new speakers makes for a cleaner install.

I just ordered the PAC unit together with an external amplifier made by Alpine model X-AV90-5 channels.
I ordered a 4 Gauge kit installation and 3-set of RCA 6ft made by Stinger.

about the cables of the new speakers - what size is required to order and in what length? (for the dash + sound bar + sub)

I'm also going to install this project by myself, in general I think I know what needs to be done, just about disconnecting the original amplifier with the original speakers - how is this done exactly?

last one, in the PAC unit - what is required to be in open / closed mode? (Numbers 1-4)

Many many thanks for answering

Hello
I have the Kiker components CSS65 6.5" in the sound bar.
Now i wait for the PAC unit and also the Alpine x-a90v external amplifier, i bought 2 sets of new speakers components
Alpine SPG17CS 6.5" and Focal 165V1 6.5".

When i will get them all, i will check all those speakers and choose the best.
I think the Focal got the most good comments...
