Identified a leak (yea I need to wipe it up to identify exactly where). Taking it to the local shop in a few days. Anyone experience this size leak? First assumption is off-roading but it hasn’t been on a trail in a few years. My 2019 JLU only has 45k miles on it. Main things that pop up via google are: oil pan gasket, faulty drain plug, and a few other things. Living in the Colorado Springs area so any local jeep mechanic would be helpful also.

It’s the oil filter plastic housing (yes plastic) it’s cracked. They checked that the filter wasn’t the issue. The replacement is aluminum but I’m pissed. To replace everything and labor $1300.

At first glance I was going to mention the oil filter housing but it the oil seemed further back on the engine so I thought it was something else. Are they installing the aluminum Dorman housing?

They ordered an aluminum replacement (don’t know the name brand). I called the place I’ve been taking it for oil changes, but ended up taking to another tech from Big ole Tire which they told me they replaced 8 of them last year. Apparently it was really bad during Covid because they didn’t have replacement parts ready and many vehicles were having issues. Now you can go to any local parts store and they have it. I don’t have the time to tear apart everything to replace everything so I’m coughing up the $1300 and the 3 hour appointment to get it fixed.
