Yeah, so getting stuck - it’s funny becuase I bought a snatch strap and learned how to use it knowing getting stuck is part of the game, but still the first time didn’t feel awesome when I initially got stuck. The guys I was with were fantastic about it though.

So one time, it was a traction issue, but I managed to get myself out with 4 Low. The two times I couldn’t get free; once I couldn’t get myself up and over to get out of dunk tank (left of dunk tank to be precise). My spotter was great but it wasn’t happening so he pulled me over. The other time, I was following my spotters Jeep too close and got stuck on a tree trunk stub... lol that was cool. Fortunately, it was on a skid plate or cross member so they did what they’re designed to do.

Just a few minutes earlier, the spotters Jeep got hung up on his rear diff on a tree truck stub. That was scary to me so I yelled but he didn’t seem concerned :)

Also posting a picture of a map of the park from an app called Maplets (on iPhone, not sure about android) but basically while there, it’ll use GPS to put a dot on the map showing you were you are. Pretty sweet since the trails aren’t well plotted on google maps.

Next meet is October 5 thru 7th - I’ll be going there on the 6th (Saturday)! I can make a post here about to try and get others to go but basically if I can get people together, I’ll stick with the stock stuff. If Sunday the 7th works better for people (chiefly, Shots) I can do that too. Hell, I just might go both days :)

I was in Backwoods, by the way, when all that excitement happened. The ruts are pretty deep on that trail, but even stock, there’s just a little rubbing the bottom skids plates but it’s all just grass and dirt. Not much risk, just very messy. Other trials are far friendlier in terms of clearance.

If I can make it out, I'll be sticking with the "far friendlier" trails for now. Being my first Wrangler, I'm going to have to ease into this whole thing. The thought of getting hung up on a stump with the under carriage freaks me out. Sure, I've got skid plates to protect the important stuff, but I don't want to damage the minor stuff either. The trails I'm comfortable driving right now, are probably really boring to anyone who's done any serious off-roading. Heck the trails I'm comfortable driving right now, are probably barely considered "trails". Baby steps I guess.

Thanks for the maps by the way.

I think you’re absolutely taking the right approach - before heading out, I watched many YouTube videos showing do’s and dont’s and really taking it easy is the best thing you can do. It’s when you get too confident that something breaks (also too fast). So easing in is the best way - as does wheeling with other people. I’m happy the guys I was with weren’t pushy at all - totally respectful and understanding, very helpful. They let me push myself and my Jeep and I learned a lot.

That said, I’d be happy to wheel with you and stick to mild trails! So much fun to be had there!

Hey, Shots, fellow Ohio Jeepers!

Just a couple days - Saturday - is the day! I’ll be heading to Southington Saturday morning for another day of wheeling.... who’s with me??? I’m happy to take people through the mild, very light trails.

If anyone is interested in meeting up, let me know and I’ll pass my info along so we can meet at the cabin in the park.

Hope to see some folks there!

:swear: I tried, but I can't. I'm working, and the guy I previously mentioned being a member out there works the same shift as me. We can only have 1 guy/gal off per shift and he's already got in for the entire weekend.
Have fun everyone, and take lots of pictures.

Bummer! Getting ready to head out soon. It was storming pretty good last night so hopefully it’s super wet and muddy. Will definitely take pictures. I also got a new bumper and winch so maybe I’ll get to use it! :)

Have a great weekend!

Ha ha. I saw 3 Wranglers parked by each other at the pet store the other day. I had to park next to them, even though I was on the opposite side of the lot than I was planning to park. I tried to take a pictures, but couldn't get a good one due to other cars in the area. Yours turned out great though.

Meijer? I am trying to remember where else I was. You notice I always park in the middle of damn nowhere. :D
Yes it was at Meijer's, I park out in the middle of nowhere as well.

I saw a blue Rubicon up near Joann's in Polaris a week or two ago. Maybe we are just following each other around :)

Nice! I used to live in North Olmsted in Butternut Ridge.. in Lakewood now. Welcome!

If you’re interested in going wheeling, I highly suggest (and you may have seen my posts) going to Southington Off-road Park in Windham. It’s about an hour from NE Ohio but it’s an incredible place. Lots to do there even for stock Jeepers. They’re open once a month, usually the first weekend of the month. I’ll be heading out there this Saturday or Sunday.

Hope to meet some new JL people out there!
