The best new vehicle I've bought was a '94 GMC that was in stock at their dealer in Houston. It had 250 miles on it when it arrived the next day in Austin. They had a driver deliver it. Never had an issue with it in 136k miles. Even if I went to Houston to buy it, I would have put those miles on it driving back home.

My current Jeep had 26 miles on it. I put 7 on test driving it. No big deal, never been back to the dealer.

My wife's Wagoneer had 1,700 miles on it when we bought it. A manager at a partner dealership was driving it. Got nearly 10k off that deal. Zero issues in nearly 2 years.

My 2015 F150 had 3 miles on it, and while it has had zero actual issues in 8 1/2 years, it has it's fair share recalls.

I bought a new Chevy truck in '99 that had 30 miles on it. It was nothing but trouble, issues after issue. The dealer got tired of me and I got tired of the truck and traded it less than a year after I bought it.

Don't make having more than 10 miles an issue. A good dealer will fully prep the vehicle to include a test drive of a few miles. Most dealers these days pull the plastic off the seats, drive it through a rolling brush car wash, spray a bunch of nasty tire shine all over the tires and bumpers, and call it good.

The main reason is that they give a decent discount on this 2024 Rubi ($4359 + $3750 for the rebate). But I will probably walk away.
You can do even better than that ordering exactly what you want from a dealer in Ratbert's sheet. There's a lot of Jeep factory incentives now as well. I got ~$9K below MSRP on my Willys.

They are subtracting the federal rebate at purchase after applying the taxes. This is indicative that the rebate has already been applied. In other words, if I was to be the first owner, I would have to get it back from my taxes. The fact that they can just give it to me back at purchase is IMHO a sign that I am technically the 2nd owner. Would you agree?
I'd rely on the how they have the vehicle classified as new or used inventory and what may be put on the sales contract. It typically specifies.

I have not taken an EV rebate if that's what you're describing with "federal rebate". I have heard that for 2024 it can be a point of sale discount, so that may not be indicative of if the vehicle is new or used. However, the rebate amount may be - I thought I read that used EV/PHEV's qualify for a different rebate than a new vehicle, but you'll have to look into the specifics of that.

I've seen vehicles with thousands of miles on them still sold as "new" vehicles. Just be sure of what you're getting and/or if you're willing to take a "new" vehicle with 400+ miles on it.

16 on mine. (Factory order, took me about a week to get it after it was delivered to the dealer.)

Hello. I am about to pull the trigger on a new 2024 4xe Rubicon X. It is a new vehicle but the odometer reads 423 miles (!!) The dealer says that it was likely picked for a random quality check at Jeep. I must admit that I am a bit shocked that a random check would result in so many miles. I see this as a red flag of sorts. I wonder what this forum's opinion is on this?
That's almost past the break in period. Were they checking the quality of the tourist attractions along Route 66 or something?

Ours X had 37 and it got it when it was difficult to find an 2024 X/35 package. It didn't bat an eye at 37 miles since I was about to drive it 45 miles home.

I wouldn't purchase one with over 100 miles new but that wouldn't really matter in the long run, it is just where my tolerance would be. For additional off, I would purchase one with more miles.

That's what I am concerned about, that someone took it for a joy ride. You know the old joke about the difference between a rental jeep and your jeep? The rental can go anywhere!
